A Virginia Beach local tells you whats hot!

I have been a resident of Virginia Beach since 1972 and I have seen a lot of changes and growth in that time. I live near the ocean so most of the places I frequent are at the oceanfront area. Living in Virginia Beach is a lot of fun. There are very many things to do as a visitor and as a local. There are many places that are practically institutions in this city. Such as The Raven Restaurant and Ocean Eddie's on the 15th St Fishing Pier.
You can't come to our town and not visit these places because they are an experience you must have.

If you scroll down further I have a voting poll where you can vote up or down for your favorite or unfavorite restaurants. I have eaten at all of them and I have my own personal favorites!

One of my favorites is Ocean Eddie's. They have been on the Virginia Beach fishing pier for 55 years. It's a laid back place that serves fresh seafood, cold beer, strong cocktails and a heaping of live music and dancing. The thing is the place doesn't have a dance floor! So the gals (only women are alowed to do this) get up on the little stage that sits in front of the band. It's a hoot to watch these crazy ladies have some fun strutting their stuff!. Here's the sad part. Ocean Eddie's closed in October 2007 and the rumor is, it will not be re-opening. The talk around town is that a new pier is being built to replace the old one. We'll have to wait and see what happens because the locals are mighty upset at loosing their favorite ocean bar.

Another one of my favorites is The Icehouse Restaurant. They have been around many years and have a loyal local following. This eatery and bar serves up some very good food at good prices. The people are always friendly and the service is the best. Don't miss it!

Some of my other favorite local spots at the oceanfront are: Big Sam's, Waterman's, Rudee's, Rockafeller's and Mahi-Mah's. Don't miss them!
