How Aware Are You of Virtual Worlds and Corporations Participating In-World?

I'm currently writing my MBA dissertation on virtual worlds like Second Life and There, and the corporations that participate in these worlds.  If you are a resident of a virtual world, I'd love to hear your perspective on real-world corporations presence and how aware you are as a consumer of the marketing efforts these companies are making in regard to virtual worlds.
