What to do with all those old magazines?
O Magazine is my all time favorite. It has so much feel-good stuff in it. When my mailman brings my monthly dose, I can't wait to devour the articles. (I love Oprah, she is an amazing uber woman. As if I'm telling anyone something new, but I must give a nod to the most wonderful Miss Winfrey.)
So of course I have The Secret and I've seen some shows on vision boards. I'd never actually made one. Hey I'm an adult, this is glue stick and posterboard stuff. How can this be something for a sophisticated (lol) gal such as me? Read on please...
The Ingredients
1. O Magazine 2. Posterboard 3. Scissors 4. Glue stick 5. Inspiration
I guess I need to backtrack to explain why I would want to make a vision board. Understand, Mom plus free time just wasn't happening for me--til I hit 40. The first ten or so years of parenting was all about the kiddos and the job and housework. I was a robot and a zombie. What a great life resume, lol.
Well, as it happens, the kids got older and I found myself with some free time.
What is this strange thing, time that is free? What does one do with such a thing? I am nervous--do I clean it, file it, feed it, take it to a playgroup? For awhile I sat around watching a lot of crappy TV, but my stomach was flip-flopping. I realized I had to do something, but what? Do I have any interests? Wow, what the heck did I do to myself? Scary...
Ok, so I baked, volunteered, did yoga, joined a gym, etc. It was right about here that a friend suggested that I try making a vision board.
For the 2 people left on the planet that haven't heard about vision boards, here's my take:
basically, you amass images and words representing the things that hold great meaning for you. Make believe it's Christmas Eve and you are a kid again and cut away at that magazine. You allow yourself to become inspired and then let the energy flow through you as you flip through the pages. The thought is that you are likely to manifest the things you are passionate about.
Once you have a mother load of images and words, glue stick them to a posterboard. When done, place in a high traffic area. That's it! I placed my vision board right next to my bed, making it the last thing I see before I hit the hay and the first thing I see in the morning.
I read an article once about a gal who made a vision board and on it she put a picture of a Viking stove or something similarly insanely expensive and lo and behold, at some later point in the story, she became the proud owner of said stove. Well, I don't know if pasting pictures of luxury items on posterboard will make them materialize in my life, but I am not here to judge and, as they say, you just never know. So I have an awesome picture of my dream car included on my vision board. This just happens to be a Mercedes Benz 500 series in black (not sure of the exact number, but you can always contact me and we can figure it out in case you are feeling generous ;).
I am a believer in positive affirmations-- all those great catch phrases you repeat and repeat in your head. O Magazine is loaded with them, by the way.
So I cut out words that were relevant to me such as: Love, Calm, Enthusiasm, Friends, Money, etc. I became a lunatic. I attacked the magazine with my trusty scissors, leaving the thing in shreds. And now it was time to paste.
Am I going to get my Mercedes 500 or that beautiful country house? Dunno folks, but I will tell you this-- I really feel great every time I look at my awesome vision board!
I would encourage anyone reading this to take a stab at a vision board. It feels good, it's free, and you just might end up with a Viking stove like the lady in the story. :)

You know you want to make a vision board!!
Please tell us about it. Better yet, have you manifested anything from your vision board? My first vision board has the word "happiness" on it in 4 places. You know what? I think I am happier than before. Not that I was unhappy, but I think I am reminded to keep happiness on the brain, especially when I see the very word every day on my vision board!

You will need O Magazine
I only use the old issues for my vision boards. The current issue is to be relished and enjoyed and absorbed for at least a full month before you take it to your vision board workshop. :)
