How To Do Successful Voice Acting Auditions Online
Today the word voice-over is becoming a household term. It is associated with voice recordings for radio and television commercials, sales presentations, educational videos, audiobooks, podcasts, animated films and video games.
Many voice actors who are new to the industry take each audition to heart and apply the knowledge that they have gleaned from industry professionals to grow in their voice over careers.
This article explores the ins and out of doing successul voice acting auditions online.
10 Steps to Doing Successful Voice Acting Auditions Online
- Take a couple of moments to visit your website. Your Website: http://yourname.voices.com. Does your page adequately reflect your experience and skills? Remember, your profile and your demos are all the client has to go by until they contact you directly.
- Is your website 100% complete? There's a new meter to display your website completeness located under the Profile tab in your account. Here's a break down of how your completeness
is determined. - Under the Profile tab check that the following has been done:
a) All languages spoken have been selected - ie) English (North American)
b) Voice Age Ranges have been selected
c) Years of Experience has been selected
d) Skill areas have been selected
e) Union Status selected
f) Studio Equipment area filled in
g) Website Theme selected - Do all of your demos play from your website? If you're not sure, visit your site and click to listen to them. Make sure your "best" demo is listed as your first demo. You can order demos by adding numbers to your title. The ideal settings for your audio demos are MP3, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz.
- When you receive a "New Lead" notification from Voices.com, preview your proposal and demo before clicking Submit. This will allow you to confirm that your proposal is grammatically correct and that your demo plays.
- Try to prevent entering $0 as your quote whenever possible. (I've seen clients delete these
submissions immediately without listening to the demo). Provide details to explain your quoting
method in your proposal. - Invite clients to give add you to their Favorites list if interested in working with you in the future. This will help to boost your Top Rated ranking on the Voices.com homepage.
- Remember that your proposal is like a cover letter. Keep it brief and simple. If applicable, make mention of a similar project or client you've done work for in the past to validate your ability to do the work.
