Learn about the great technology that is VoIP (voice-over internet protocol). Save bundles of money on your monthly phone bills.
What Is VoIP ?
Never heard the term "VoIP" before ? Don't worry, as you are not alone. However, I can guarantee that you have either seen or even used a VoIP service before. Heard of Skype ? Vonage ?
VoIP stands for "voice-over internet protocol" or "voice over ip".
So how does this VoIP stuff work ? Well, what voice-over ip technology basically does is allow you to place phone calls thanks to an internet connection, preferably broadband. When you sign up with a VoIP provider you will be given a modem, which will be used to facilitate the placing of calls. There are a number of VoIP providers on the market, each offering residential and business VoIP services.
The main benefit of VoIP technology is the cost ! Switching to VoIP could well save you up to 90% on your current phone bill. You can expect to pay as little as $9.95 per month and get unlimited calls (both incoming and outgoing). This usually applies to calls made within the United States (and Canada for some providers). How much do you pay with your cellphone service provider ?
Are you a small business owner and want to install VoIP ? No problem. There are VoIP business solutions for you. Or perhaps you just want it installed in your home ?
If you have friends and family living overseas then VoIP would definately be the right choice for you. Some providers offer unlimited calling to select countries (at an additional monthly price). If you have family in India for instance, you can place a call to India for as little as 2.9c a minute with VoIP provider Lingo.
