Volunteer Kenya

Hi my name is Esther Passaris and I volunteer Kenya. I was born in the Coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya. Seven years ago, I started a company called Adopt A Light that deals in street lighting, billboard advertising, high mast lighting, slum lighting, light box and I must say we have our share of success in this business. I was led to the urban slums of Nairobi while researching on the impact of slum lighting for Adopt A Light. Something definately was not right with the living conditions of the slum dwellers. I witnessed poverty, despair and hunger which many Kenyans face. Something had to be done to bring to an end this suffering, as a result the Driving Kenya Foundation a charitable non profit public organization was started in the year 2003.

Kenya volunteers should join hands and fight this monster called poverty. I am dedicated to volunteer Kenya. We can reach to greater heights together as an individual or corporate by doing something concrete in support of poverty eradication. The Driving Kenya Foundation is the link between individual and businesses who want to make that much needed difference
in the lives of those in poverty. I came up with the idea of a forum where we can connect, share and express our thoughts on the social and economic problems facing us as a country.

As a fact, charity in Kenya has come a long way and this website which I helped to start will change the way people donate to charity Kenya and volunteer Kenya. There is a membership structure where individuals and businesses can register, contribute, comment and even choose an area of concern where they would like to see the money go to. All this will be done through One In A Million which is the driving vehicle of the foundation. On the other hand The Jig Saw is the communication arm of the foundation. The foundation will highlight the many different activities and events we undertake. We will also give periodic reports of where the donations have been used. Join us now and together we eradicate poverty in our beautiful country.

Did you know that over 50% of Nairobi's population live in informal settlements and the number is likely to double in the next 30 years if adequate measures are not taken. Besides outdoor advertising, slum lighting is one of our products that we as a company specialize in and at the same time provide the community at large with the much needed lighting.
