Volunteering with cheetahs in a natural wilderness
Ranked #47,941 in Travel & Places, #1,216,197 overall
A chance for me to rave about a Yomps Wildlife Volunteering project that I spent time on last year, allowing me to learn about conservation, assist with wild cheetah reintroduction and help sustain a natural wilderness area.

The Project
I spent some time on this project last year and wanted to share how fantastic it is!
South Africa is famous for its amazing game reserves and this Yomps Volunteering Project allows you to go behind the scenes and see what its like to run a game reserve and contribute to the conservation of the animals that reside within it. What makes this reserve special is their aim to manage the reserve in a way that allows nature to operate on its own as much as possible, not an easy task but a worthy one.
The Cheetah Part
This year the project have begun introducing wild cheetah back onto the reserve, which means us lucky volunteers get the chance for some great visuals of these big cats.
Volunteers on the reserve assist by feeding, watering and monitoring any cheetah being held in the BOMA (a 3 month quarantine period) and helping with the daily location and monitoring of the released cheetah out on the reserve.
