What we look for in a game.
The VPetsOnline Guide
Virtual pet games are exploding all over the Internet as Neopets continues to be the example from which all others are taken. VPetsOnline uses the following guideline to explore and define online pet games:
- They are browser games. A browser game is one that does not need any special downloads, only plugins (special little programs for browsers) like Flash or Java.
- They are essentially free. VPetsOnline searches for games that are playable and enjoyable without a fee.
- They involve some kind of pet. Yes, it's crazy, but has to be said. A virtual pet game should have some kind of pet. It doesn't matter if it's dogs, dragons, gnomes, or crazy anime creatures.
- They have to be child-freindly. Since the number of virtual pet games are exploding, there are bound to be some that are not appropriate or safe for kids.
- They have to be free of defects.
- They have to be free from an overwhelming amount of advertisements.

- The largest and most successful pet game out there.
- Power Pets
- In it is a large, active, and friendly community.
- Nutrinopets
- Nutrinopets is one of my favorite pet games.
- Kiropets
- I have not played Kiropets a lot but it seems a lot like Neopets, but a little more complex.
- TeriPets
- I'm still new to this site.
- Zetapets
- A smallish pet site, not outstanding but some might like it.
- Rescreatu
- I'm still exploring this site. One of my favorites; up there with Nutrinopets.
- Petnebula
- A newer game (only three pets right now) that is interesting to me because the upgrades are really cheap. I see a lot of potential here!
- ChibiPaws
- Haven't tried this one yet; no comment.
- Club Penguin
- The classical penguin game.
- Subeta
- This is one of the most known and active pet sites out there.

- I play on Petnebula and am head mod. It's grown substantially since I began playing in 2004. In five years, we've gone from those three pets to twenty something. We have many features to explore, all in a fun and friendly environment of over 80,000 members. The owners often drop by to say hello, which is one of the best parts: staff actually love to interact with the other members and not just%u2026watch for people to make mistakes. There are things you can unlock by doing certain tasks or buying a membership. We are also on the verge of some exciting new discoveries. There's never been a better time to join.
