To find an Olde World type of shop.An Auckland shop.Do you want vibrations, activities, and goods exotic to some but familiar to others? We have had different people come here, tuning us up to a higher tone. For example a customer said to Look at flowers for half an hour first thing in the morning, before anything.Perhaps famous for fireworks at Guy Fawkes, Wah Lee has dry provisions like beans, lentils, nuts, canned foods, bottles and jars of ingredients and cooking and preparing implements. There are also display things like paper lanterns, and bamboo and paper blinds and room dividers. For weddings you can use our paper lanterns as venue enhancers as well as look at our paper parasols for that romantic photo at the reception.Fireworks displays can be organised with time. They need some planning if not at Guy Fawkes.(You can buy some then,if your wedding is soon after). We support the right of common people to buy and light their own fireworks with skill and general care too.Now at backyard displays you may know the person doing the fireworks. You would have a good regard of attitude and competencies at a display. With displays or home use,it really depends whether you want any fireworks at all. Many who oppose retail fireworks sales, are also against spending for safety, art,or good quality fireworks for public displays as well.So I fear that you will actually end up with no fireworks at all.None of the political parties support fireworks very much.Remember what almost happened at an English Parliament one day? Festivals not of the mainstream are undertaken on the smell of an oily rag. Support through government of these festivals is small. Non mainstream festivals are nevertheless well supported by public participation. Also you can ring us to recommend a few Pyro technician and logistics persons like BJ at 027 289 0596( best to text first,he may be setting a fireworks display up, or lighting one).Do not get fireworks from nasty trailers outside dairies at Guy Fawkes.I think they often affect the sales of our customers whom are the dairies. Very shady?Fireworks is one thing, but we do have a shop handling Lifestyle products, certain hard to get Chinese seeds, crockery, ingredients of the modern cuisine as in magazines type, cooking implements, camp ovens, woks, glass laboratory storage jars,Chinese wines and herbs and potions and teas, spices, canned foods, beans not heat treated, frozen asian casava, and noodles and wrappers like chiao tzu and wonton and samosas and Peking Duck Pancakes, and paper blinds and white paper ball lightshades for home or weddings. But also we have ability to sell Awesome American Transfer Factors and other things from 4life Research.. As for a cyberspace shop,we have immune intelligence, super oxidant, and beauty products online from 4life research. go to http://wahlee.4healthdirect.com or to http://wahlee.my4life.com -takes PayPal .If you are not a Geek, then come in to our shop to look at some of these.
Hello local or out of town visitors to this lens.If you are visiting our shop again, or for first time visitors in real life, I do recommend coming in on Friday and Saturdays. We have more people on hand those two days.Walk, bicycle,or catch a taxi home if coming on Fridays.Watch out for the clearway that is placed in front of our shop weekdays including the Friday. It has not been an easy road for us to carry on .That starts at 4pm and runs through to 6.30pm.On Saturdays we do not have a Clearway, though you are supposed to put money in the pay and display machine for a ticket to display on your dashboard. On Sundays, there is neither pay or display nor any clearway restriction. We are open from 11am till 5pm shorter hours on Sundays. On statutory holidays we tend to be shut.Bring ID if intending to buy liquor or fireworks.Out of Guy Fawkes time you will need to have a pyrotechnician's licence.During Guy Fawkes you need to be 18 years or over. For million dollar looking weddings get White paper lanterns , Paper parasols, even Chinese Silks,Yes we still sell Silk. Our Address...Wah Lees 220 Hobson Street,Auckland 1010, New Zealand.
Wah Lee has been an experience as much as just commerce based at its best.
We have been blessed with many legendary helpers over the last hundred years, none more so from the 60's to the 80's.
At this stage we are re learning the ropes as those have moved on.
Many people are coming to this lens from the Yellow Pages.Awesome!Thank you very much for visiting,
and I hope you will find some of what you are looking for here.
Wah Lee an Auckland shop,an institution, because we have been stupid when it meant something takes guts to dig a little deeper and then create a real experience to be left to legend.Lots of very good times and services have been imparted here.I think many Gourmets have visited our shop over the years, they are also people whom push the envelope ,and they have been using our ingredients and tools to do it..Much love has been shared.I think there are still wonderful people here, but do not rely on what laurels are left from the great energies that Auckland has had in its people and even architecture. Many of these people have died, and much of the architecture has been lost.My own Mum has passed on on July 12th 2008,she and my Dad George Wah Lee who died in 1985, created a real meeting place for spirited lovely people. Many were just normal if there is such a thing.Middle class perhaps, but also very many creative and perhaps famous people have visited often too. Wah means Peace.Lee means sharpness or Prosperity.Sometimes it is easy to get to feel strong and most rules for certain products means you can easily get officious. Please warn us if we overstep the mark just as officials overstep theirs.
A Hello and welcome for people that may know the shop in New Zealand.
Try our 4Life products of Cardio, Glucoach, and Riovida juice Trifactor plus. Please email me to get a Rita Elkins book about Transfer Factors. It will even target Viruses and some Cancers Hope to serve you well, you diversified bunch of spirits.
The shop is said not to have changed, and looks quite traditional. But this is not entirely correct.Compliance from regulatory authorities keeps you on your toes enough.Certainly there have been many changes. Many of these just help to keep things like they have always been.It seems that those in power cannot leave well alone. As there emerge excellent people in authority whom seem to care and have skills honed by experience and observation...Just after a couple of decades, then someone has to be a new broom and sweep it all clean again and sack all the helpful governmental underpaid and loyal staff.Theoreticians over commonsense and skill indeed.Actually stronger and more intrusive than governmental or,council requirements, are private ones. There is ISO 9002 and HACCP which are to do with food safety. There are also big businesses pushing their weight around. They seem to have ability to take over the news and to get behind governmental policies that you will notice target small businesses. Please do not think that this is right, because there are sometimes benefits like freshness in dealing with smaller enterprises.
There are products here in this Lens similar to what is in our shop.Much of what our shop has been is atmosphere however. So I am trying to put all sorts of interesting things around in this Lens along with some of the products.
We have interests in people , and there have been demands for fireworks because really they have so much vitality & colour & best use of gunpowder and support of a Guy Fawkes in that of a good natured letting off of steam through sparks, at the inevitable het-up feelings of the year's governmental bureaucratic intrusions.I personally do not support burning Guys at Guy Fawkes, perhaps incorrectly I sort of support a friendly aspect of the so called Guy himself.
We have woks and related cooking utensils too.But we have also given out a lot of advice.Sometimes I think we were the first shop with Chinese ingredients to sell cooking books. There was no Martin Yan TV Chinese Chef then, nor were there coloured photos in cook-books, but some of those books inspired some family raising history making expectations of great to be at home again cooking.
A lot of boring people talk of racial authenticity as regards foods and ingredients. They even put down the open minded and chefs awareness results maligning perhaps use of Miso,Tofu,or sesame paste .If you see or try cooking that is possibly just from one village, one city, one nation, one time in space...then why not celebrate it from one's flash of inspiration.True, it may not jell, it may not be from personal inspiration...fed from trends..there may be too many ingredients used perhaps. But do not think that there is any so called culture that has existed in absolute pitch black isolation.
Wah Lee been behind some Cultural Fireworks events in Auckland New Zealand. They have imported fireworks that ended up being used. We love these, but because people are trying to ban personal lighting and sales, I would be a reluctant supporter of displays.I would rather have personal though safe use.Much lack of safety has been lack of care, or deliberate misuse maybe deliberately because people get their backs up at being told to do what they clearly already know. Also government bungling and attempts to prevent certain dangerous activity have almost been training lessons to teach innocent people how how to misuse safe fireworks. A major thing is people's experiences with animals.I used to recommend locking pets inside, but I would say to mainly do this if they will not be under your care and communication. They may pine and fret if locked away wondering what the heck is going on and why they have been locked inside. But you would have to be the boss, reward them for bravery and good behaviour, and keep an eye on them when lighting fireworks. You should try quieter ones first, and certainly there has been a lot of feedback that even loud ones do not worry their animals. In the police force, obviously their dogs would not be fazed by sudden loud sounds, nor war horses.also dogs can be quite loud themselves.Personally, I have felt that Sirens have been of the wrong tone for some time. What happened to the happy sound of rung bells on Fire Engines?Things seem like the end of the world when you hear the urgent wails of all sorts of services.Hey, there is a happy side to them coming along too Eh? I don't know what their Db level is, but it must be quite high. But anyway, if all exciting things were banned because one or two people don't care for them, well watch out!For snoring can sometimes reach 85-100 decibels! Enough to scare dogs and small horses. Actually,I may be a part of the misinformation and propaganda.I was thinking, that even in fireworks being misused, and this is not always the case, there could even said to be far more accidents and danger from milk that can go off, or plastic chopping boards, that need to be constantly sterilised, or from candles and matches and actually almost anything else than fireworks.I am never going to say fireworks are totally safe, but actually safety may come from exposure to the handling of them.People say they are up in smoke, so why do they keep talking about them?actually the internal benefits to society from fireworks could be seen in sports performance and the economy. The timidity of people frightened of fireworks is not the courage you need for sports or for being an entrepreneur. With the accidents in 2007 being 40% less than in 2006 and 2006 being 40% less than in 2005 it is pathetic that still, one accident gets calls for banning!Actually, with fireworks and the nature of immediate care needed, it is likely that accidents by the dozen are actually being prevented. And where is the teaching in schools, or by the SPCA through Police and Army animal handlers to give advice on teaching pets not to be so fearful? It may almost be out of the hands of young ones soon.Often, when fires are reported around Guy Fawkes time, fireworks are initially blamed. How many times has the call been changed to other reasons if fireworks were not involved? At one reported riot of hundreds,a witness told me that there were actually three people involved.Rockets were banned after a boy got one in his eye,but I was told that it was someone that lit it in his room.I wonder how much interest there is in them this year, what with new age restrictions and less days we can sell them on?There are also internet sites reviewing fireworks usually by power, even though backyards are not always up to having that type used there, and also at this stage, lack of neighbourliness is likely to see louder ones cause the whole shebang to be argued about again.Whatever, do not allow fixed seating for people watching, and no babies in prams please.A hose is very good in case shrubs catch fire. And no fireworks near shrubs if they are that sort of firework anyway.
I have imported many novelty fireworks,to the chagrin of die hard big banger pyros. But to get the evil eye of your wife off you, why not get and enjoy the Large Happy Lamps, the Bird in a Cage,or the use-while-it -is still bright smoke balls?Unhappily, I was not able to get The Tank nor The Dragon this year.I could have, but you really need to get at least a 100 cartons now,and they are very elaborate to make.So we will have to tag on to another overseas large purchaser's ordering, which is how we were able to get them before.
If the government and councils are expecting shows to be the way of the future, there will have to be those whom see the value of sky art and some times ground spark art that invigorates. There is something about fireworks, that for those that don't fight the suddenness, the rocket acceleration, the staccato bangers, but let it cleanse themselves internally with the experience that could find healing, find extra powerful inspiration, get a better sense of timing and learn not to turn the place into Hamilton, indeed, learn not to inspire people to snore. Is it money that allows big shows in civilised countries?Or is the understanding and use of big displays a cause of money?
Did you notice that more accidents and serious ones too, were at shows, in 2007?Also , as for loud fireworks, that is the only type you will get at shows, whereas for home, you have the chance to get very quiet fireworks.
One event has been for the Fabulous Auckland Lantern Festival.Another Tremendous event that just gets bigger and bigger every year is the Indian Diwali Festival of Lights.
Food and cooking at both these events is just top notch, mind you they are eat on a paper plate and stand in the crowd type restaurants.
It would be great if people would get inspiration and come into our shop to buy ingredients later, but I suppose that is not going to happen.
I came across a lens on loose leaf teas, and then I got on to a lens for Gong Fu tea.Well this reminded me that our shop has been a big player in our town for teas too.As for Gong Fu tea, I really enjoyed partaking of that in Hong Kong.I do believe it is far better not to sip the tea though. It really is not superheated as in a microwave, so usually I find that I can drink it right down after first breathing out and getting my energies aligned to the drinking.Wow, you feel like a dragon. The steam comes out and your whole body feels warm and warmed as if all the kinks are coming out.
As to teas, we have sold Not only Chinese teas, but Mu tea, roasted brown rice with Japanese green tea, powdered Japanese tea, and Darjeeling tea.As to Chinese, we really undercharged for our bricks of old Pu Erh Tea.I hear these can sell for enormous prices.Often we would put tea into a tin, and then throw another one on top when it got down.So if somebody liked the tea, my father would have to point out that we would not know exactly what the mixture was.I think often, people just went ahead and bought a few packets to mix something up themselves.Koo Loo tea was our main standby though.I enjoyed a twig tea, which in Japanese hands sells for ten times more(though lovingly roasted first). This twig tea is also used by a chef famous in NZ called Michael James for smoking. It is called Look On Ji.The Look on is hard to get but is very nice too(The leaf version).
As we talked to people, sorting out partners was quite a topic, so we ended up looking at Chinese animal sign astrology.Suzanne White took things one step further, and mixed in simultaneous Western Astrology. You will think she has a hidden camera and microphone plus has sneaked in to see your diary.well worth a look and could save a whole life of being with the wrong partner or having children in the wrong year for you.
Music has been looked into with a love of unplugged type single instrument
Chinese music. You can get some i tune music here that you could do Taichi naturally to and/or for massage.Try to get into the music before allowing yourself to get carried into what you do.So you attract the right spirits, maybe consider surrounding yourself with some incense.Try not to mentally order your moves.I don't think that would be very mood creating.Don't worry if you go into another realm, as you might be just whacked out and your inner voice is telling you to rest and submit.
Energy is what is also matter. It matters that there is energy.

cooking.Chinese astrology fascinates everybody ,as does Feng shui,so we have books on these subjects and knick knacks for Feng Shui use. There are bottles of sauce, big and small woks, and don't forget implements that go with them.Separate gas jet rings and regulators may be used by those who really want to fire up a marvellous stir fry.We have had
older people, younger people,ex customers, movie maker visitors, all remembering good times in the shop. Now we provide internet links,so a lack of car parks opens opportunities to the world, only trouble is, that the world may be too scattered a place to offer to.You need to focus on those that really want you.People do not know whom to believe anymore too. Clearer attitudes and vibrations open up opportunities to the universe.Your ashes get scattered there.
A smaller tam tam gong
a tam tam is a gong that has that roar sound.
A standard gong has a single steady tone,
and the tam tam could best be described as having a Dragon like sound.
This very example has been bought and is being paid off in installments.
The lady said she had a back that was bugging her,
and after I played the gong softly,
she was healed.
Friendship Pagoda Firework.
A novelty firework ( available only during our Guy Fawkes Season).
This will not offend the neighbours.
You lift the firework out and read the instructions in good light before use.
On the day of use, find a smooth flat surface.
Have someone arrange a lit incense stick.
Under supervision, your child could reach out with this stick and put the lit end to the wick.
All things to be used should be explained early.
Upon ignition, get back and watch the spinning sparking display. This should be at night time for the best effect.
Dynamic and dangerous activity held in safe attitudes nurtured by a responsible guardian, elder sibling or a Dad.
But watch.Wait.The firework is not over yet.
A light stirs within, and the whole firework
starts to get higher taller erecting into a beautiful lights on pagoda.
Give it a few minutes, just be ultra sure it is safe.Maybe even wait till the night is finished.
This is a pagoda you can keep.

Getting organised for the Wedding reception
We have cute things for the big party.
Fortune cookies and Chinese Cardboard takeaway containers for fun things to put in.
Many times back.
I think paper brollies have been organized,
as well some big paper ball lanterns have been picked up
( they look so beautiful strung up on wires around the venue).
Three Big Men
I do not know if these men were physically imposing, but they left a big legacy.
These people represent strong character and genuineness.
There is no clever play on words for what they represent.
There is no strange interrelationship that is
typical in cultures that revere mainly because of present power and birthright.
A Buddha in an Egg, a stone Egg.
A face that seems to have a smile that is still quite rare.
Without all the words and the so called philosophy,
just a look seems to give you strength.
A tiny cup, more for wine, but some do drink tea out of such a tiny sized cup.
You can use these cups to tip wine over your deceased loved ones gravesite.
These cups are quite big enough when related to the strength of some Chinese spirits like Mao Tai or Rose Wine or many others.
Remember when President Nixon had Mao Tai with Mao Tse Tung?
After that , the international price for Mao Tai Sky rocketed.
It was nice that he went there and made Peace.
Is this the secret reason why he got engineered out of office?
There are some powers in USA that do not want to lose their privileged position.Bless them for they are overly endowed with little insight but rather basic in desire.
A Dark shot close up.
An attempt to show you the special feature of this design's raised nature.
This is The Mansau Teapot.
All Mansau designs like this have been filled in by hand painting.
With wages going up in China, it is lucky we can still afford this type of artwork/domestic crockery.
A little bowl with a friendly sort of child based art.
Interesting in this picture is the boy holding up the numeral for 'Four'.
In China was invented the concept or description of the Four Seasons, there is also the Four Directions and the associated Compass.
In Hong Kong, the number four for a car number plate is still worth quite a lot.
I know that there is a mention on the desire to avoid the number four because of the other meanings associated with the sound of it being pronounced.I do not think that this is the case in Mandarin or many smaller dialects, and I am afraid it is something dreamt up mainly by criminal elements Triads and the sort.Certainly not cultured lovelies.
This is a lovely bowl made from White Mountain Clay.
Slightly see through it is, and the Gold is Real.
You can get a spoon in this design, so you could get a set of four bowls, four spoons, and four sauce dishes in a red design presentation cardboard box.
Arty attempt at getting you an appreciation of the Mansau style design.
These are closeups of the flat based good sized mugs with lid.
There are three basic Mansau colours.Turquoise, Red, and Yellow.
All are Imperial colours previously used only by the Emperor and his entourage.
So now you are privileged to enjoy these colours.
Is it enjoy?
Or is there some deeper aspect to these colours?

Suzanne White astrology books, another way to see your character .Cooking Books, with recipes for a natural way of eating, but that is tasty too.
The New Astrology: A Unique Synthesis of the World's Two Great Astrological Systems: The Chinese and Western
There may be many people that have not heard of Suzanne White.By mixing the Western and the Eastern Astrologies many people would be surprised at the accuracy achieved.
The New Chinese Astrology
This is also a synthesis book of Suzanne White's, mixing the characteristics of western And Chinese Astrology.
Be prepared to have your book borrowed from you and not having it given back.I suggest writing the name and phone number of the person who will supposedly just borrow it for a week.
Also, many have bought extra copies of these just to give to relatives and friends.
Simple Chinese Cooking
Oh she is a lovely lady with a good nature.
We are lucky that she has decided tp write a cookbook for us.

Whom has seen Martin on TV will never have forgotten his extreme speed at chopping with the Chinese cleaver as he is talking directly to the camera.
Yum Yum Dim Sum (World Snacks)
If you would like to go to eat Yum Cha, you will come across many fabulous Dim Sum.I do recommend to visit a Restaurant serving Yum Cha,and do take many friends and family members along.Invariably this will not break your bank balance.
Well Chai is a take on the way some have tea in India.
This is a New Zealand made up Chai mixture.
I hope you enjoy it.
We have food related products too.
This is the Tamarind Concentrate.
Instant,well just mix with water.
But we also have seedless tamarind,
and, Tamarind with seeds.
There is also Sri Lankan Goraka which I love, and
is used in a similar way.
With Seafood, Goraka tends to allow the Seafood to retain its texture.
Well unfortunately, Wheat starch from Thailand has taken over the market from this lovely firm.
This brand is a Hong Kong made Wheat starch powder.
Soak some of this wheat starch in boiling water and mix well.
Cover bowl for about half to three quarters of an hour.
Take out little pieces of your dough and make round balls.
Flatten these balls into a paper thin sheet.
Fill with delectable things or a flavoured prawn.
Cover up the little parcel or even make a world shatteringly creative sculpture with the dough, and then steam till cooked and enjoy with some hot tea.
Dip into some favourite chilli sauce before eating.
Along with the party theme we have citronella candles
Or, you could take these camping.
We also sell Blood protection company mosquito coils.
If you do not want to kill anything, even mosquitoes, the coils do not have DDT and you should allow a chance for them to fly away.
Delectable, and certainly not tart.
Full flavoured dried tomatoes.
What about other Lenses?
If you want to see some other lenses I have made,or are related?
I have put a few other lenses here, so pleaserealise that we should aim for a niche.
More is merrier when we can narrow down a topic.
I am going to try to focus.

Restaurants in New Zealand, Perhaps in Auckland. No, beyond as well.
Restaurants in Auckland,and around .
I thought of this addition because I came across a lens for famous Melbourne Restaurants. Now I do have to agree that I came across excellent food pretty much all around Melbourne.Even at the Zoo.
Before I mention Auckland, I do Have to mention some regional Restaurants that buy from us, and are probably consistently very good...In Gisborne there is USSCO restaurant.
In Tauranga there is Somerset Cottage, Mills Reef Winery,The Kestrel 007,and the former owners of Harbourside Restaurant have started Bravo. Before Tauranga is Kati Kati, and here is Forta Leza.
In Ruapehu there is Bayview Chateau, half way up the mountain.
But in Auckland you have Andiamo,Stamford Plaza, Hilton or Whites Restaurant,Langham Hotel,Rice Restaurant,Prime,Rocco,Cowboys Pizza,Opium,Pontoon,Sugar and Spice in the Domain,Gee Gees in Greenlane , The Rendezvous has restaurants, and The Hyatt Hotel.Down by the Viaduct there is a big range of Restaurants including Euro, and The Degree,Danny Doolans, as well as The WildFire. The Heritage Hotel and City Life have fine Restaurants.Mollies is a little out of the way.Umi and Monsoon Poon have fine Kitchens, and Thai, Malaysian, and Chinese Restaurants are often of a high qualiity.Vietnamese have done very well in New Zealand, and their food is very refreshing.Pies can be well made in New Zealand, these are well worth supporting.Vinnies and the French Cafe are the ones you may have to book for.Over on an Island you have The Mudbrick Restaurant, but you will have to check how you are going to get there and back to the Mainland.By mainland, I mean Auckland city.As When we refer to The Mainland, we usually are referring to The South Island in New Zealand. And although we have not supplied to the South Island, I have experienced their cooking some years ago and was generally very impressed by the food in Restaurants there.
Mugs.Clothing.Probably easiest for American customers on the Net to buy.
Fireworks as the Theme.
You actually could join them and get your own designs out into cyberspace.Let me know if you do some exquisite designs that I may be able to sell on this Lens. You will need to let me know the name of the shop.Like some traditional Chinese brush painting type designs would go well, and also some Chinese simple Zen (Chan) type designs too.

Well Happy New Year(50%?)
People said the Year of the Rat was awful.
It really is hard to tell what bad luck leads to.
I would rather not dwell on luck too much even though our whole existence is based on it rather more than scientists would like to admit.
Did you hear about the sceptic?Got caught in the USA Ponzi scheme.
Now there is an MLM somwhere here in this lens being advertised. The relationship with a pyramid is that members signed through a member have financial activity rewarded.Actually, someone signing on a lot later can make more than the very first member who ever dared join ,but that is another matter. Some do imply that the earliest member gets a lot of benefits.I think that this may be incorrect.Everyone is just a member that can sell the products end of story. Now some MLMs can cause you to spend unnecessary money to supposedly jog your success along a bit.Watch out for these expenses. Some MLMs have popular products, but do not share much of what is earned out to the active participants.
Luck has to be a factor,I'm sure it is.

We had a zojirushi thermal cooker before this and loved it. It's great for cooking stew, soup etc which requires long cooking time. You just boil the ingredients together and then place the pot into the vacuum container. A few hours later, it's ready to be eaten. Save on gas & power bill and no worries about watching over the stove. Highly recommended!
This is even better than slow cookers because the flavours are fuller, the colours are more retained, and the mineral and vitamin content of foods will be higher.
Although the food will also be cooked more quickly, there is no need to turn anything off during the main cooking. If the food is left, the food will stay hot, and not get burned. You can start the pot up and leave it for hours.
Basically, there are two pots. One, the bigger one, has a plastic bottom, and so should never be put onto any heat source. This is the pot that has a vacuum and retains the temperature that you want of the second, smaller pot which is all stainless steel, and this has its own glass lid.The big pot has its own lid as well.
So all the cooking is well sealed and will not release any steam or goodness.
Apart from taste, this is a way to cook that is very energy efficient.
Once you bring your dish to the boil in the full stainless steel pot, then you need not use any more heating after that. The boiling pot will go into the big pot and cooking proceeds with both lids sealing in all the goodness.
