Nice tax lens. I'm really trying to learn more about this subject now that I'm freelancing enough that I'm in need of more tax deduction ideas and such. Thanks for sharing your information. Like your tax link exchange, too.

The day after we incorporated ourselves, I knew I had made a great move!

Up until then I didn't really understand all the ramifications of incorporation; namely lower taxes! I mean why in the world didn't I do this a year or two earlier? I could have saved myself thousands of dollars for sure! I guess it's just like anything else in business (at least for me) - you have to live and learn; make mistakes and then grow by them.

So now as an oincorporated business I have a lawyer, an accountant, and a bookeeper. These are necessary for me to maintain business records and keep me on the right track.

Make sure you shop around for any hired help. Many accountant firms offer bookeeping at reduced prices, and you will want to have an accountant who understands all the myriad ways and means of saving money by spending less on taxes!

Lastly, be sure to set aside minimum 15% of revenue to pay off your tax bill at year end!

I have an accountant and basically do what he asks. I do know I have to save all receipts, and I print out monthly expense reports etc. for when we meet. Plus I track my mileage on my vehicle and keep track of my monthly utilites (phone, electric, ect).
