Wahms United

Greetings from the Great White North.. ok, so Ontario (Canada eh) isn't so white at the moment - I'm sure it will be soon enough :)

I'm Dianne, full time work at home mom (aka WAHM) of 2 great kids.  Married for 13 years now, my hubby & I are both originally from Toronto, but heck.. who wants to live in a big city anymore? Somehow or other we went from T.O. to a community with a whopping 1400 residents, however I must say that I'm much happier about raising our kids here than I would be if we were still in the big city!

I started working from home full time in 2002 just after finding out I was pregnant with my son.  I hadn't been happy working outside the home - I'd known for years that I wanted to be in the comfort (seclusion?) of my own home.  Health issues were also cause for concern and stress in the workplace sure weren't helping matters much.  I should also mention that my drive to and from work was 45 minutes and yes.. that's one way.

Needless to say, I had missed many of my daughters firsts, and wasn't about to do the same with my baby boy.  I was determined to be working online by the time my son was born... and the good news is, I haven't looked back since!

What I Do:

I'm a bit of a 'Jill-Of-All-Trades', however in the online business-place, that's not necessarily a good thing.  My portfolio consists of website design, graphic design, wahm training, business coaching, website hosting... and even consultant.  Not to mention affiliate marketing, and webmaster lol.  Oh yeah.. almost forgot about the IT side of things too - script installations & customizations.  Told ya.. I do it all :)

When I first started out online, my biggest problem was 'What The Heck Do I Do Now?'.  I'm sure many of you have gone through this phase, or are even buried alive in it right now.

Doing what every logical thinker does, I started by making a list which contained everything I loved to do, everything I was good at doing, and my interests.  This led me to realize that my love of computers and my ability to quickly learn anything computer related would really be a big benefit to me, and sure enough.. it has been :)

There are many things that a 'newbie' doesn't know when they first start out online.  For example, my first website was originally created on a free webhosting account.   It didn't allow me to learn what I needed to know about designing a website, and I soon discovered my way around an HTML editor and started hand-coding on my own.

Ok, ok.. yes, I am quickly getting way off topic here lol.  What do I do?

I'm the proud owner and founder of www.wahmsunited.com - yes, the site that was originally started way back in 2002 on a free website.  Wahms United has grown immensly over the past few years and is now one of the oldest, and largest resource, support and networking websites for work at home moms online today!

One of my more recent additions is Wahm Web Hosting.  Although I've been hosting websites since early 2005, I finally created a website geared toward my target market, and am working towards a successful future :)
