For the history buff you can visit Hampton Court, previous residence of Henry VIII and a very well preserved historical building which includes an outdoor maze. This is on the bank of the Thames and includes extensive gardens.
If you are more energetic or have teenage children there are many theme parks in the area. Chessington world of adventures, Thorpe Park and Legoland are all within 20 minutes car drive.
If you want to travel further afield the area is blessed with motorway connections, easy and rail access to London and close proximity to the Eurostar connection to Paris and Brussels.
