The Professions often change when a new expansion pack is released. One other new addition is Northrend Alchemy Research which allows players to learn 1 new recipe every 7 days - it is designed to help players gain more rare recipes and will also proc some rare elixirs and flasks as a result. This skill is not automatic though so you need to remember to use it when the cooldown is up every week. In the end, Alchemists will be largely disappointed in the changes to their money making options and the new competition for herbs, but they still have plenty of people to turn to when selling their wares.
