Is a World of Warcraft Leveling Guide Worth Your Hard Earned Cash?

Why bother with a World of Warcraft Leveling Guide?

When just starting out in the World of Warcraft it's a blast. Everything is fresh and new. When you're working on your third or 5th or 10th level 70 character...  then things are getting a little stale. For this reason people will look to a guide to pick up some tips and shortcuts to getting to level 70 asap.

So why not just go to brogames or such and buy a higher level character? Well, not reason really, other than cost and the chance of getting banned...

WoW Leveling Can Be a Pain

Banned?!? Yep. Blizzard officially frowns on buying powerleveling, gold, or gear. If they catch you: Poof! You're gone. (read section 8). So if you don't want to risk your account you have to get leveled the old fashioned way.

But leveling in World of Warcraft can be a pain. I'm serious and here's why: the first time you run up to level 60 or 70 it's fun; obviously it should be given since this is a game right? Well, that same logic doesn't necessarily apply the second time, or the third, or the fourth... When you're doing the same, or very similar, quests over and over again.

Basically each time you feel like trying out another class, race, faction, or whatever, you're inevitably going to end up getting tired of the same old quest or monster grind to 70.

Sure, some parts are great fun, especially if you have a very different character, but others are just repetition. So how can you avoid the burnout?

I experienced the burn-out quite some time ago. It often makes leveling, grinding, or even just plain old questing, tough. Some ways to relieve this include taking a break, but often-times you aren't tired of World of Warcraft, you're just tired of the time wasted leveling that new character in an attempt to try raiding with a level 70 warlock or paladin, and so on.

Especially if you don't want to play that character for several months first.

Don't make the same mistakes I made, please. In an attempt to solve the problem I essentially memorized every single quest and monster in the entire game, and I proceeded to force myself to level as fast as possible. It worked... somewhat.

In the end, I managed to make even the idea of touching a new character trigger my gag-reflex. Not fun. A much easier way to solve this would be to simply skip the torture of normal leveling and try out one of the many guides that are available (for far less money than buying a high level character.)

The easiest and best way to solve the whole dilemma of leveling burnout is to either make it so fast it doesn't matter, or make it so easy it's fun. Both of these are easily solved by picking up one of these helpful guides rather then wasting days, even weeks, of your precious time forcing yourself through the leveling grind; it's not worth it.

The Top Leveling Guide

iDemise Sets New 1-70 Speed Leveling Record

Team iDemise, a professional gaming group, has taken the 1-70 leveling system and made it better, faster, and stronger than it ever was before. For both Horde and Alliance! Don't want to have to play a Hunter to get to 70? Don't want to have to constantly switch between game and guide? If you play either Alliance or Horde then check these guys out now!

This one is especially cool because the entire guide is in-game! Step by step, where to go, what to do, and no switching back and forth between game and guide. Quest tips and notes included!

For the Horde!

The #1 Horde Guide to be Found Anywhere

Before the iDemise guide came out Joana's guide was it for the Horde. So who the heck is Joana? He's the guy who wins all the fast leveling races in World of Warcraft.

When a new server opens up he makes a character, usually with the name Joana, and beats everyone else to 70. Usually by a large margin.

This guide includes links to more info, from sites such as Thottbot.com, for every quest in the guide! Also included is an excellent hunter leveling build, key binds, and user submitted guides covering every class. If you're Horde this is a superb leveling guide!

Save Your Sanity

It's not that the guide is a "magic leveling pill." It's that the guide will show you all the shortcuts. It'll show you what to do and what not to do to get the most efficient leveling per hour, whether you're a hardcore gamer or play just a couple of hours a week (and congratulations on your resistance to the WoW addiction!)

Speaking of burnout: one thing that can help avoid it, and easily increase your fun time, is playing music. This is a great distraction from the grind that I've personally used quite a bit.

Some people read books or watch movies on their computers, or they might do a whole slew of other distracting activities while leveling. How can one do this? Just memorize all your movement and attack keys. Lay them out in such a way that you don't have to think much.

One problem is that this distraction often leads to slower kill times, and results in slower leveling. You might even find your face buried in a cliff, especially if you're reading a very interesting book! This would be why the determined leveler's solution leads back to the World of Warcraft leveling guide.

Many of these guides have the info that would take you hours and sometimes days of your time to complete. Things such as map-notes, which make it easy to find everything you could possibly need on the in-game map, and a list of the materials required to prepare for each quest. This is far more interesting than endlessly running back and forth between towns to resupply.

Beyond that they contain every little detail on each quest. Wouldn't you rather know how to kill the dreadlord *before* you fight him, rather then die six or seven times before figuring it out?

Well, ok, the challenge is fun sometimes, but everytime?

Pick up one of the hot guides and you'll have all this info, before that next quest sends you on too many trips to the graveyard.

Bottom line: save yourself the stress and hours wasted and the potential burnout and boredom and just buy yourself one of the World of Warcraft leveling guides. It will work better and faster for you in the long-run and is an inexpensive price to pay to save your sanity while leveling.

Not Only for the Elite Players

For the player who's brand new to the whole WoW game it can be intimidating. Fun, but you're kinda lost and you haven't a clue as to what does what.

If you have an experience player with you, that's great, but if you don't...

So this is one area where the guides shine. The leveling guides have an addon which modifies the in-game maps to show you every objective. This is amazingly handy.

As for your class or race the WoW Forums have a ton of info on whatever you want to be.

While you can buy a guide that will cover every last inch of any given class, for example: hunters, I suggest reading the forums and experimenting with your character first. Buy a class guide when you have a little experience and you're tired of wading through the forums.

Have fun!

Greg,

You do a great job of outlining the benefits of Brian Kopp's and Joana's Guides. There are some great slightly less known guides, including Spugnort's Leveling Guide.

Hi all. I've been playing MMORPGs for some time now and other family members are pretty dedicated. World of Warcraft, of course, is way too addictive for our own goo...  more
