Gold Is And Always Will Be ESSENTIAL
Before I write about the review I must stress to fellow WoW gamers how important having gold is. Sure starting out its easy pie, you can get by with silver and copper.
Eventually though you will level and you will need gold. Gold pays for your class training, profession training, mounts, upgrades, food, flight paths and for the things you do not have.
Starting out it can be a pain to try and get a gold, but believe me you can. Warcraft wealth has a lot of information for lots of different classes and levels on how to get gold.

And now that Wrath Of The Lich King is out gold is needed even more, especially for level 70s. So keep reading along and you will learn more about Warcraft Wealth.

WoW Basics
Personal Review On WoW Basics
I have one level 70 already, so reading WoW Basics didn't do much for me. That doesn't mean this ebook is crappy though, it isn't. It is meant for new players not level 70s. I might of even laughed at this section because I knew everything Wayne was talking about. So of course I had to put my level 70 knowledge aside and consider what a level 10 - 30 might be thinking while reading it.The 3rd chapter was my favorite because it was the profession chapter. Wayne goes into detail about professions, like the ones that go together, (example: Mining & Blacksmithing). There is good detail on where to get items for certain professions as well. An example to this would be tailoring, first aid. Tailoring and First Aid require you to use cloth, cloth is found on humanoids. Some people starting out may not be aware of this. Little bits of information like this can be very helpful to a new player.
Not everyone will agree with this, but a lot of people believe that mining is the best gathering profession. Reason because mining helps out 3 other professions: Blacksmithing, Engineering And Jewel Crafting. A rather nice advantage is that you can sell mining bars or ore, other players will buy the ore at times if it is cheaper or to level up their own mining. Lets face it some players are lazy, which is another prime reason why crafting materials sell so well on the AH, in most cases anyways.
In The WoW Basics guide there is a huge section dedicated to mining. This is great for a new player who wants this profession for gold purposes. With each type of ore that can be found, Wayne made a list of the places where you can find the ore. This will greatly help some players who are really unsure about the best spots for farming copper or even higher level ore like Mithril. There also is a handy quick list that shows you at what mining level you learn to smelt each type of ore. I know it can be annoying to be in Stormwind after leveling a toon and running to the profession trainer only to find that I have nothing to learn at that time. Its not a huge deal, but annoying in general...
This is actually what the list looks like...
Copper - 0
Tin - 65
Silver - 65
Iron - 125
Gold - 155
Mithril - 175
Truesilver - 230
Dark Iron - 230
Small Thorium - 245 Rich Thorium - 275
Fel Iron - 300
Adamantite - 325
Rich Adamantite - 350
Khorium - 375
Copper all the way up to Thorium can be mined in normal lands. You cannot reach Outlands until level 58, I believe it has not changed... Fel Iron, Adamantite, Rich Adamantite and Khorium can only be found in Outlands. So if you do manage to get your mining skill to 300 before reaching Outlands you will have to wait unfortunately. The last types of bars/ores sell very nicely as well on the AH. I have seen Fel Iron sell up to 30 - 40 gold for one stack of 20 and Adamantite sell for 40 - 60 for a stack of 20. When you learn all the mining points it can be very easy to make gold off of this profession.
The WoW Basics guide also contains some information on skinning. There actually are some location maps as well that show you where to get the best leather types. And of course information on skinning in general. The only real disadvantage with this section is that there is not an adequate amount of low level information included. Mining and herbalism does have low level information though.
The herbalism section also has some location maps for farming higher level herbs. The low level herbs are easy to find for the most part though. Most herbs are found on land, where as mines are found on hills and in caves. One plant though called Ghost Mushrooms can be found in a cave. The location is Skull Rock in The Hinterlands, you will need a herbalism skill of 245 though before you can farm this plant. Again though most of the information for this section has to do with Outlands.
Now there also are the three professions/skills that everyone can have. Fishing, first aid and cooking. The WoW Basics book does have some information on these but not a huge amount. These skills unlike the others to can be very easy to level if you make time to level up while questing. It can be very beneficial and depending on the level and such you could make some side gold as well.
The next section is for the auction house. This section is pretty good. Considering the fact that I usually only use the AH for selling items I farmed. It is a good idea to watch the AH videos included though, they contain a lot more information.
The AH section is very straight forward and easy to understand. One very important thing you will learn is item demand. This is important because quite honestly if you put something up that does not have a chance of selling or a very small chance of selling then its really not worth the time. That is why in demand items are the best. Of course, some green items, rares and epics are worth the time, depending of course. Those items are not always in demand though.
Items like certain potions, elixirs, herbs, ores, bars, leather, armor kits, recipes and even in some cases food and of course cloth are always in demand in some way. Sometimes you can find these in demand items for a very cheap price, which of course is a good time to buy them and in return resell them for a higher profit.
Now a very common suggestion I often hear is to make an alt character for your bank transactions. Some people do it for their main doesn't have to deal with it. Or because you can easily make a level 1 alt and run them to the closest city. In my opinion humans are the easiest way to go, make a human and run to Stormwind, very easy and doable. This of course is not needed as some people look at it as wasted character space. With doing this though you will have a toon close to a mailbox and the AH, so that is quick access right there. Plus extra bank space.
The final chapter of WoW Basics is about Instances. Now mainly low level instances. The best way in my opinion is doing this with either a dedicated group who is ok with splitting everything. Or get high enough level that you can solo. Soloing low level instances to me is better.
Why Is It Better To Solo A Low Level Instance Alone?
- You Can Have All The Items That Drop
- Since All Items Go To You, There Are No Loot Rolls (Example: Greed or Need Rolls)
- Depending On Profession Being Alone Is Also Good!
The Deadmines - Good For Miners and Enchanters. Throughout The Deadmines There Are A lot Of Mines. Any Instance For The Most Part Is Good For Enchanters, Because You Can Disenchant The Items That Drop.
- In Some Instances You Can Collect In Demand Items! On Some Servers This Could Be A Challenge, But Not Always.
A Very Popular In Demand Item Is, Cloth. Humanoids Drop Cloth. Plus Some Enchanting Materials Sell All The Time. From What I Know, Most Instances Drop Magic Items, Even If Soulbound To You, You Can Disenchant. Currently In Game Hallows End Is Being Celebrated. The Headless Horseman Event Is An Example Of Where You Cannot Sell Or Disenchant The Magic Items That He Drops. Remember Though To Check The AH For Prices If You Are Not Sure.
So as you can see soloing low level instances can be worth it in the long run.
Another low level instance worth mentioning is Shadowfang Keep. This one is located on the Horde side in Silverpine Forest. This one is my favorite low level instance. Reason because it just is. Compared to The Deadmines it has way more BoE (Bind On Equip) BoE items can be sold in the AH for a decent price. These BoE items are considered twink items. For the twinks that do not have the time, well this helps them greatly.
I find as well that its rare that you will find multiple twink items selling at the same time on the AH, so price shouldn't drive down to much. A good thing to do is check the AH though first and see if the items are selling decently if at all. The disadvantage here though is the fact that those BoE items have a low drop rate. So yes there is the chance that you could get very frustrated if the BoE you want to drop does not drop...
Scarlet Monastery is another good one to solo, when you hit appropriate level. Mainly for higher level enchanting materials, silk and sometimes mageweave and more BoE items.
It may feel like a waste of time going to these instances. I find though that at least one good thing is bound to happen. If you have a lot of time and are board you can just reset the instance up to 5 times anyways. So yes that means you can enter the same instance 5 times in one day.
Before hand though check the AH and research prices. If you are unsure about items that drop and such then you can use a free resource such as Thotbot! I love thotbot, it is very informative. Just type the name of the instance in the search bar and you will be able to see most of the items that drop and comments from other players and such.
At the end of the WoW Basics guide there is a section that list grinding spots for alliance and horde players. These list go right up to level 60. I actually found out some new information from reading the grinding spots, and that is always good to know! Again if you want further detail on instances and item drops in areas and such then visit thotbot.
As you can see the WoW Basics guide has a lot of information outlined for new players. I gave a big overview here, and there is more information to learn than this. This guide itself is definitely great for new players and people who want to learn more.
Warcraft Wealth Guide
Personal Review On Warcraft Wealth Guide
This is the ebook for higher level players. A more advanced approach to making gold quickly. There are some detailed methods listed that can help you get gold. I will reveal some of the first method to give you an idea at what these methods are about. The first one teaches you how to earn 50 - 300 gold while waiting to go into AV (Alterec Valley). Basically most servers give you a wait time of 10 - 20 minutes, and I have seen more just to get into this... While waiting you may as well make your time useful. You could easily do the skyguard daily, possibly other dailies even. Plus if you have a gathering profession you can go out and mine, herb or skin. When the popup comes up telling you to go into AV you can head in. Best part is when your finished that AV you can go out and farm again in the same spots, plus probably find a new spot. This really depends on server though, some areas get over farmed which does not help. I am not going to list all the methods of course, but that is one of the methods listed in the ebook. Some of these methods I never thought of before, so it did help me out a bit.Add-Ons are also discussed in this book. Add-Ons are good because they make certain task a bit quicker for the player. Depending on if you are in a guild you may easily be able to access add-ons through the guild website. If you are not in a guild or your guild has no website then you can just go to http://wow.curse.com or http://files.wowace.com/ You do not need add-ons. I play with them because I enjoy them. Auctioneer helps me make more gold in the AH. Cartographer is another one I use. For me though I pay attention to mining cartographer mostly. I am not sure on this but there is one add-on out there that has previously marked spots showing where to farm mines. The other one marks the spots that you collect mines from. There also is one for herbalism as well. Now Wayne does not leave you alone in the dark entirely in this section... He actually has links in the ebook where you can download a bunch of add-ons worth getting. He also includes a description of each, this way you can better understand what each add-on does.
This ebook also includes more information on the AH. And the obvious fact that you can make stabile income using it. This is a very useful section actually. There is information here on controlling the market, vanity items (these items most of the time are useless, but some players will pay big gold to have them) an example here would be Blood Elf Bandit Mask, I am sure if you search the AH you will see it. I have seen this mask sell for 15 - 30 gold before.
There also is more detail on professions and which ones you should use together. With this information you will also read about some of the cool things you can make with crafting professions and which professions make a decent amount of gold.
The Farming/Grinding section is one of my favorites. Reason because Wayne has different technique's listed. With these techniques you can learn the proper level to even be doing the technique, what the item is your farming, the best spot to farm it. And a map of the area showing you farming locations. This can help people new to the game, or who just never knew.
I will share one of the techniques that is listed. One Wayne listed is for farming Netherweave Cloth. One of the best areas in Outlands is Netherstorm, you can kill the blood elfs located at the different manaforges located there. This is great because they are humanoids, humanoids drop cloth, and they drop reputation tokens. If you want to do furthur research on cool items that could drop then search Netherstorm in Thotbot. One time I was doing the daily to get the Sunfury Attack Plans and I had the engineering recipe drop: Schematic: Khorium Scope. One thing that does kinda suck though is that those recipes are BWP (Bind When Picked Up) I was lucky because my level 70 is an engineer. If you manage to find any rare monsters though they have the chance of dropping blue BOE's. I like doing this myself just to see what type of drops are in each area. Take into consideration though that there is no guarantee to get any amazing drops without constant farming, since most items have a very low drop rate.
Each and every technique listed in this section is explained in great detail with pictures included, so it should not be to difficult to understand.
The section titled "How I Get My Epic Flying Mount In 1 Day" should realistically help a lot of people. The problem with this section though is yes, it worked for the person writing the guide because of his class and spec. If you are under geared and just not the right type of class then you will not be able to do it. I tried doing it alone on my level 70 rogue who has almost all epics and could not. Although this is a big red flag for the guide itself it can benefit some people. And just because my rogue cannot do it, it does not mean that yours can't. Wrath Of The Lich King is out now though, so higher level the better for this method... There is some useful information here, with perfection or a group you can make some extra gold through this method. I can't say much about it though, don't want to give it away after all :)
There is a section dedicated to dailies, which in my opinion is a good thing. I do not do dailies often because quite frankly I get bored and annoyed when I do them. This section is good though for people who never heard of dailies, new 70s, or maybe even someone who has a few 70s and just never did a certain areas dailies but wanted to. Some dailies need to be unlocked by doing quest, like the
Ogri'la. For the people who have no idea what the ogri'la is or how to start the dailies there this section will explain and with pictures included how to do this. There also is some information on the different daily quest as well. The good thing about the different dailies is that you can do them everyday if you like. You do not have to of course, but most dailies will give you 9 - 12 gold a quest, some give a little less. Dailies are very quick too, so easily, depending on if you are in a group or class the dailies can be done between 20 - 40 minutes, in some cases a little over a hour.
The final area of the book teaches you how to make gold to get your epic flying mount within 5 days through 11 different steps. The steps listed should not be to difficult. What I covered here goes over most of the information in the Warcraft Wealth Guide.
One Reason Why Gold Is Important Right Now :)
WOTLK! It is here and people I am sure are going to want gold to buy the cool stuff out there. Aside from expensive mounts there are 2 very cool things I want to point out. One being a train set that cost 250 gold and for mages Polymorph: Black Cat this cost 2500 gold! You can get these in Dalaran. I know I want both of those.

Mining Maps
Personal Review On Mining Maps
This is the shortest ebook in the package. Reason of course being because its maps. For the people though who want to collect more mines and are just not sure where to find a good amount of them, well this will help you. The first thing most miners learn is the location of mines. Common places of course being caves, mountains, sides/edge of hills or cliffs.
These maps are helpful because Wayne did circle certain areas where you can find a few spawns or more of mines, this also will depend on server. Through these maps you also will learn spots to find certain mines as well. As you level you learn this as well. Its good too though to know exact locations. And where my level 70 is a miner I can say that this is very true. The mining maps will consist of the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outlands. Personally there were some areas I had not checked out before so the mining maps did help me out a lot for some areas. You must keep in mine though that lots of other players mine, so there always will be some competition when it comes to mining.
Auction House Videos
Personal Review On Auction House Videos
I am not going to say much for this section. Quite frankly it is very straightforward. One video teaches you how to setup/configure Auctioneer and the other teaches you how to use it. Wayne uses one of his own characters in both videos, and sets up real auctions so you can see how it works and such. I have not been using Auctioneer for a long time but I find it to be good to use for many reasons. You can see how often items have been viewed, all the prices, Auctioneer can even scan the AH to find deals for you. And of course you can use it to buy low, sell high. Auctioneer is not something you must have though. I don't always use it and I still make decent gold from the AH without it. The Disadvantages
Of Course There Are Some...
Aside from that though there are a few minor things I did not like. The main one being the fact that not everyone can do one of the techniques listed unless they have the gear needed or in some cases a group. In the guide Wayne was able to do this technique alone on his level 70 Paladin.
In the WoW Basics guide there is another profession section, in this section mining contains the most information. For some people it may be upsetting to not see the same amount of information for other professions.
Other than that the only other real disadvantage is that some people who have been playing the game a long time, or just know a lot about how to gather gold may find the guide useless. I don't know everything about getting gold, so the guide did help me out.
Final Note
I wanted to present everything I could about this guide without giving the whole thing away, the guide does cost money after all. Like I said though for the most part lower level players, even mid level and some high can benefit from this guide. And it is true... The secrets Wayne revels in this guide are legit. There are no hacks, cheats, exploits or any other unfair methods. I used the methods I could from the guide and made some extra gold quick. With Wrath of The Lich King out these gold secrets are worth it to me. And could be worth it to you too. I highly praise this guide to new players though, even mid level, and 70s who are interested.
