Wardrobes For Your Home

There are many different pieces of furniture with the home with many being prominent while others are more subtle and not always required. The wardrobe which his also known as a closet in the US is usually the second largest piece of bedroom furniture after the bed itself. This lens talks about the differnt types of wardrobes available.

Furniture In The Bedroom

Within the bedroom you have the main items of furniture which are the bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside table and in many you find a dressing table. These are all usually made of a type of wood with pine being the most popular followed by oak. As many of us like to change our bedroom round from time to time, it has made sense for many manufactures to steer towards pine when producing the bedroom furniture we are looking for with the wardrobe being a prime example.

Even though a bed can benefit being made from oak as this is a very strong wood, wardrobes when it comes to it are better of made from pine. The main reason is due to the size of the wardrobe which when made from oak can be extremely hard to move if not on wheels. Many wardrobes come with bun feet or just standing on the base depending on the design. Without wheels, moving an oak wardrobe can be very hard and needs more than one person, one at each end to walk it across the room. As the wardrobe can be heavy as it is without any clothing inside, it can easily pull up the carpet so using pine this can at least try to be prevented.

New Or Second Hand Wardrobes

Pine as a wood is much lighter than oak so when used to make bedroom furniture is a much better choice as this limits the weight produced by the furniture making it easier to move if need be. Another reason is pine is cheaper than oak so as your wardrobe can be an expensive purchase in itself, being made of pine helps with this cost whereas an oak wardrobe would be considerably more expensive.

There are several types of wardrobes to choose from when it comes to looking for your new piece of furniture. Then again you can find some superb second hand wardrobes in second hand furniture stores which can be in such a good condition they look brand new but for half the price you would pay for a new wardrobe.

You could be looking to buy second hand or brand new but the variations are still the same. The least popular are open wardrobes which are very similar to hanging rails with a main disadvantage of letting dust settle on your clothes. Adding to the fact they look ugly puts many people off this variety.

Freestanding, Knock Down and Walk In Wardrobes

A more everyday variety of wardrobe can usually be found being the double wardrobe. These are the type we see in most bedrooms being independent pieces of furniture and able to hold a considerable amount of clothing. These can come as single, double and triple wardrobes with a few variations in measurements depending on the style and manufacturer. The pine used to make a free standing wardrobe can come from many different countries so designs vary a great deal. Rustic furniture is very popular which can be related to Mexican bedroom furniture.

Free standing single wardrobes can consist of basic designs which just include an amount of hanging space or with more complicated and sophisticated designs include inbuilt compartments and chest of drawers for additional storage space.

Knock Down wardrobes are the same as free standing wardrobes as above but have been designed to be able to have themselves disassembled if the wardrobe Is required in another house or room. When reassembled the special brackets and fixtures keep their strength instead of finding once put back together you look the structure, shape and strength.

Inbuilt wardrobes are found to expand across an entire wall and have the same amount of space or more than a free standing wardrobe but be fixed in place. This can be great to have but also limit the movement of furniture you can achieve if you decide to change the design of your bedroom.

Many new wardrobes come with this design which means you have to spend a few minutes assembling your new wardrobe but the strength is the same as if it was delivered fully built.

Walk in wardrobes are the largest of the varieties available and usually found in large homes with large bedrooms. A Walk in wardrobe can incorporate a very large storage capacity with internal lights and a possible seat for changing shoes. Walk in wardrobes can also have many cubby holes and internal drawers and a ideal piece of inbuilt furniture for any family.
