Have you gotten the dreaded - Warning spyware detected on your computer - error message?

A recent CNN study reported 90% of internet users have some form of spyware infection on their computer. Typically they will find out through a pop up thats says "Warning: Spyware has been detected on your computer". But this message can be very tricky to deal with. In this lens I will explain where the message came from, what it means, and most importantly how you can get rid of it!

Before you do anything READ THIS

Warning dangerous spyware!

Often times the "warning spyware detected on your computer" message is fake! It is actually a form of spyware advertising as a spyware remover. This is a clever trick to simply iinfect your computer further and steal information. These pop ups will come out of nowhere and warn you of grave danger while providing a link to scan or remove the spyware. But be careful because it is a trap. The dead give away is when the message mentions a specific spyware remover or provides a direct link to download. The image below is an example of a fake warning message.

Warning Spyware Detected

What is a "real" spyware warning message?

How to seperate the real from the fake

Typically a "real" or official spyware warning message will read something like warning spyware detected on your computer and then offer more general advice like "install an anti virus or spyware remover to clean up your computer". Sometimes you get an error message with the infamous "blue screen of death" which means there is a possibility that spyware has infected your registry.

But not all Windows Blue Screens are real either. Some of the trickiest forms of spyware will post a fake blue screen picture as well as a "faux reboot" screenshot that looks like your computer is really restarting. The best way to know for sure is to press the alt/tab keys. If you can minimize the blue screen then it is a fake!

Blue Screen of Death

How did your computer get infected with spyware

Here are the most popular culprits

-You recently downloaded shareware, freeware, or some other low cost program. A lot of these programs are "free" for a reason, the developers are paid to place spyware in it to steal information and recoup the cost of creating the software.

-You downloaded music or other files through peer to peer or other shared networks.

-You visited an untrustworthy website that hijacked your browser. A lot of "free giveaway websites, pornographic, and even song lyric websites are loaded with spyware. Without some sort of protection they can easily infect your computer.

Folks there seems to be an epidemic going on. With the prevalence of social networking websites and multimedia downloading the threat of being infected with spyware is the worst I can remember

The two newest anti spyware rogue programs are Antispywaremaster and XP Antivirus 2008. A rogue antispyware program is one that posts fake alerts (like the ones in posts above) about your computer being infected with spyware, trojans, adware, viruses, and other malware.

They fool the user into downloading the software and then wham! Their computer is infested with spyware and other corrupt files. Antispywaremaster is so evil it cons the user out of $115 and steals their credit card information.

Folks these malicious programs are not to be taken lightly. They must be removed immediately. If you believe you are the victim of antispywaremaster or XP Antivirus 2008 get your free scan from one of the the best spyware remover on the internet.

If your computer has been hijacked with the infamous "blue screen of death" then read here

Your computer screen is locked on the dreaded blue screen. It simply won't let you do anything else. Here is how to get around it.

1. Reboot your computer in "safe mode". This is done by tapping the F8 key while your computer is restarting.

2. This should allow you to run your spyware scanner. If you don't have one or want to learn more about how to remove spyware then run a free scan at Spyware Fix..

3. Scan and delete all spyware files.

4. If blue screen persists then right click on the desktop and select "properties". From they're click "active desktop" and untick "show web content".

This oughta do the trick. Again if you are getting these error messages then you either don't have spyware protection or it is out of date. I recommend scanning your computer with the best spyware remover.
