A show with fast cars, female bonding
Originally called Surviving the Filthy Rich, this CW fairy tale is an adaptation of the popular Zoey Dean novel How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls. Created by "Everwood" writer Rina Mimoun, "Privileged" has an unexpectedly sweet undercurrent that you don't always find in shows that invite us to gawk at opulence.
The series centers on twenty-three-year-old Megan Smith (Joanna García) who has a Yale education, a relentlessly positive attitude, and a plan to conquer the world of journalism, despite the fact that she is slaving away at a tabloid rag. Megan's plan is thrown off course when, in one whirlwind day, she gets fired, meets cosmetics mogul Laurel Limoges (Anne Archer), and becomes the live-in tutor for Laurel's twin teen granddaughters in the heady Palm Beach, Florida, a world of wealth and power. The girls, Rose (Lucy Hale) and Sage (Ashley Newbrough), are beautiful, rebellious, and less-than-thrilled with their new tutor, but Megan is determined to win them over as she enjoys the perks of her new job Continue Reading...

At first glance, I, like many others, assumed this series was just one of "super rich girls do anything they want" stories. Fortunately, after watching 5 episodes now, this is certainly not the case. There were actually motives and backgrounds to the characters which I thought was one of the most forgotten aspects on creating this type of series.

i Loved Privledged and it was my weekly escape to just sit and enjoy tv for once and watched it with my daughter and it was something we did together. she Loved the show also. They need to atleast come back for one more season instead of ending it the way it did.

Definitely Privileged. Its a show that is not all about teenage drama and the superficial world of the popular but rather about a girl who is upbeat, and trying to make something out of her life while being almost a mother to two girls. 90210 on the other hand speaks more about sex and betrayal, which did not carry my interest for very long.

Privileged is completly awesome !! i love it <3 !!
I've read the book it's based on and the actors/acctresses totally bring the characters to life :)
Plus the cast are all healthy and not anorexic like in 90210 i mean its more natural and easy to relate to in privileged xx
I'm so gutted it's cancelled its obvious the CW network just want to send out the image of ridiculously skinny and unhealthy girls ... for what??? They canot act in 90210 I mean the only reason they have that job is because they're pretty ... i mean amateur much !!
:D Privileged rocks!!

while privileged is my new craze it's clear that 90210 is better because they are doing a second series of 90210 and not of privileged.

ew... thats a toughy... i like both shows! although im leaning more so toward 90210. its a little more laid back and not as much drama although it does have more characters which makes it seem less drama. but i really like both shows! They are great shows that i cant miss an episode of.

Poll: Charlie or Will?
Sadly, I don't see any chemistry between Charlie and Megan...whereas there is tons between Megan and Will, so I don't see Charlie as ever happening. What's with this unofficial tv rule that all female and male best friends are meant to be anyway? There is such thing as FRIENDSHIP! Weigh in early on whether Megan should choose friend Charlie or rich boy Will?
Comments
CW's "Priviileged," my favorite new show this fall (so far), continues to be my Tuesday-night guilty pleasure. It is an amalgam of the CW's other shows in this genre: more contemporary and (at times) funnier than the new "90210" but not as nihilistic as "Gossip Girl." JoAnna Garcia's is both charming and a promising light comedienne. What do you think of the new series?
