The First Pocket Watch
Found by a watchmaker's apprentice while on a school trip to London in 1987. He bought it in a mixed box of old metal and watch parts at a flea market. In this box he found this small, rusty and defective watch, to which he did not pay a lot of attention to. Not until 2001, did he act on the idea to get this little watch going again.
Created by Peter Henlein in 1505, this small pomander watch, is of the rarest type of watches. It is also the oldest watch ever found. During extensive investigations, secret signatures of Peter Henlein were found.
The findings on hand even allow the conclusion that this
watch was his first portable watch, which he invented
and made during his asylum from 1504 to 1508
in the Franciscan monastery. It is by far the
