What's the big deal about Water?

Water is essential to human life. Our bodies can last weeks, even months without food but only a number of days without water.

i hope this lens gives you a new appreciation of water and why it is so important to drink clean, high quality h2o!

Introducing... Water!

Generally, you should consume approximately 2 - 3 Litres of water each day. Breathing, going to the bathroom and sweating result in about 2.5 litres of water loss per day. Around twenty percent of water intake comes from food consumption, so drinking at least 2 Litres of water each day, along with a healthy diet should replenish your fluids. However this is not a steadfast rule for evey single person, we are all different and people in hot places and elite athletes for example, will need more water. Instead of aiming for a fixed number, your thirst is a good guide that you may be becoming dehydrated.

Water is such an essential dietary component because it is involved in every bodily function. Water helps transport nutrients and waste products in and out of cells. Water is necessary for all digestive, absorption, circulatory, and excretory bodily functions. It is also required for the maintenance of regular body temperature.

"The human body is made up of between 55% - 78% water depending on body size!"

Did you know that your blood is 83% water? muscles are 75% water, your brain is 74% water and bone is 22% water.

So it is pretty obvious that drinking plenty of pure, clean water is essential to good health.

Water is extremely important to pregnant women and nursing mothers for their child's development. Athletes and gym junkies depend on staying well hydrated to reduce cardiovascular stress and improve recovery time and performance. Water reduces body temperature making exercising safer and more effective.

Know anyone that has ever suffered from kidney stones? Upping their water intake can help dissolve calcium in the urine and drinking sufficient water daily reduces stone formation. Drinking water can assist in preventing urinary tract infections in both men and women, cleaining impurities out of the system.

Did you know that even mild dehydration makes you more susceptible to illness and viruses? For someone with a weak immune system water aids recovery from colds and other illnesses.

staying hydrated will:

- Improve mental and physical performance
- Increase enegy levels
- Efficiently remove toxins and waste products from the body
- Help reduce weight
- Reduce headaches
- Assist in digestion
