Watermelon

Watermelon acts as a mild natural diuretic. When I was pregnant for my first child, water retention became quite a problem. My ankles were so swollen I couldn't really feel my feet any longer. This occurred late enough in my pregnancy that my physician felt it was too dangerous for me to take water pills.

My dear sweet Mother In Law suggested that I start to eat watermelon and it really did help. It did not take all of the water off but enough to give me some much needed relief.

As always, you should consult your own physician to make sure this would be right for you to try.

Watermelon Wedges And Charity

Part of the proceeds earned from this lens about Watermelon Designs goes to the charity below. At their Freedom Fest they will sell watermelon wedges in order to raise money to repair, restore, and add features to their Veterans Park. You may not live in SC and may not be able to purchase a wedge of watermelon from them this year, but you can send them a charitable contribution.

We are a group of concerned citizens interested in making Pendleton SC's Veterans Park the best it can be. We currently have a playground, walking trail, three picnic shelters, a concessions pavilion with restrooms, and three old ballfields.
