Watsu is an Experience No One Should Miss - What a Blessing

Receiving a Watsu treatment seems very simple but this is deceptive.- Watsu is actually a very deep heartfelt process. The gentlest form of Watsu is known as the Jahara Technique. Watsu water massage was first developed at Harbin Hot Springs in Northern California by Harold Dull in the 1980s.

What Watsu Feels Like

Because Watsu is performed in the water, the body can be manipulated and stretched in ways impossible while on land. Watsu incorporates aspects of Zen Shiatsu and is a hybrid system of massage. The client is fully supported in the water by the therapist and is swished around in the water. The receiver has their head back and ears are submerged in water while the nose and mouth are up in the air. What is felt is the water's warmth, and the weightless movements of your body as it gently waves and sways and then afterward what is experienced is a profound physical release, letting go, and relief from tensions and pain. Most people experience a familiar sense similar to the womb or of being loved unconditionally. This sense of acceptance creates a deep feeling of nurturance and safety. This combination creates a profound and holistic bodywork experience that is literally like no other.

There are now three forms of aquatic bodywork related to Watsu: 1) Waterdance or Wasser Tanzen, 2) Healing Dance, and 3) the Jahara Technique.

Watsu Aquatic Bodywork - A Testimonial and Who My Therapist Is

Watsu is a form of Aquatic Bodywork that is provided while the body is supported floating in a warm swimming pool of saltwater. The support of the water frees the spine and allows it to move in ways impossible on land which provides a level of relaxation where normal tension holding patterns are released. Gentle, gradual twisting, pulling, and stretching of the body relieves pressure on nerves, strengthens muscles, and increases flexibility and range of motion.

The water is heated to body temperature for superb muscle relaxation. The room is filled with music, candles, and art to encourage and enhance the opening of the heart, the quieting of the mind, and the nurturing of the spirit.

Watsu is a remarkable floating, breathing, stretching form of bodywork. Watsu can be a profoundly creative and freeing discovery of awareness. Specific movements allow the body to access deeper relaxation, greater flexibility, and profound therapeutic benefits.

I found Watsu to be profound and wonderful. I slept like a log afterwards. I also experienced some emotional release of very old stuff. I want to HIGHLY RECOMMEND the woman I went to if you live in the Denver area. Her name is Jan Waller-Taylor and you can make an appointment by calling 303-526-2919. Pamper yourself - you deserve it.
