Waybuloo Birthday Party | Waybuloo Party Supplies | Kids Party Themes

Waybuloo features four lovable Piplings called Nok Tok, Lau Lau, Yojojo and De Li. They live in a magical land called Nara, where they live in their own little pods, in a beautiful garden with an ancient "yogo" machine, consisting of a sundial with crystals and yogo positions. When the sunlight hits the machine it rises up out of the ground and the crystals chime, signalling that it is time for yogo, which is a simple form of yoga based on the nature and animals found in Nara.

Each episode sees the Piplings solving a problem together by sharing their feelings and helping each other. They are assisted in this by visiting Cheebies (children), who they play Peeka (hide and seek) with.

When the Piplings are happy, they experience Buloo, which enables them to rise up and float in the air. When all four experience Buloo together, it is called Waybuloo!

Even better, it's a celebration cake, so you could use it for other events as well. Yojojo is the orange Pipling resembling a monkey. He represents play and happiness, and, as the youngest of the group, is often clumsy and falling over. He likes to be cheeky but always learns from his mistakes.

Yojojo loves music and enjoys playing his handmade Pipling pipes, as well as the drums and banjo.

* Provide some Waybuloo puzzles! These giant floor puzzles will allow everyone to join in on the fun

* Let's play Peeka! Piplings love to play peeka, a form of hide and week, with the Cheebies. Choose four children to be the Piplings and get them to hide, while everyone else is a Cheebie and has to find them. Continue until everyone has had a go at being a Pipling!

* Nara Treasure Hunt - provide clues that lead to a prize. In one of the Waybuloo episodes, the Piplings hold a treasure hunt for Lau Lau by using a trail of natural objects as clues pointing to the treasure. She follows yellow leaves to a yellow-leaved tree, and then arrows made from twigs that point to the treasure cave. You could try something similar in your garden!

* Musical Pods - play musical chairs but with cardboard cutouts of Pipling pods. Use pan pipe music in the background to keep in theme with the Yojojo area

Nok Tok is the blue Pipling who resembles a bear. He represents wisdom and likes to help out and mend things. An expert problem solver, he comes up with inventive solutions and is thoughtful as well as practical. Nok Tok is determined when it comes to challenges and loves to fix things and build things in his workshop.

Nok Tok has a Pipling car and a wonderful Anything Machine, and loves to spend time making things.

Decorate this area of the room in blue - use balloons, streamers, banners and more. Use Nok Tok-themed items as well, such as a cardboard box painted to resemble his Anything Machine or work tools.

Activities to run in this section could include making things, intellectual games, and anything involving the Anything Machine!

* If you have a Peeka Pod (above), let the children have fun playing inside it

* Organise a craft that requires making something. The Waybuloo play packs (see Party Favors section) feature a Nok Tok design which include instructions on how to make a Nok Tok car. Or construct something from the show, such as a cardboard yogo sundial or a Pipling picnic basket.

* Make origami Piplings or Narabugs

* Construct a Waybuloo box from stiff card. For extra special effect, arts and crafts shops such as The Paper Mill stock card that looks like wood

* Hold a Thinkapow Quiz! Test your guests' knowledge of Nara and the Piplings with a fun quiz. Set the difficulty of the quiz according to age

* Play a game about Nok Tok's Anything Machine. This is a special machine that can make anything! Paint a box to look like the machine, with windmill sails on the front, and put items inside it. Pull them out, show them to the children, and then hide them away again. The children have to remember as many items as they can in a set time limit

* Get the children to draw or sculpt what they would most like the Anything Machine to make for them

* Design Like Nok Tok - get the kids to draw up plans for a new invention for Nok Tok or a machine that will help the Piplings in Nara

Lau Lau is the lilac Pipling that resembles a rabbit. She represents imagination and likes to be creative. Most of all Lau Lau loves to dance! She also loves to sculpt, paint and anything else creative, with a particular love for sparkly or textured items.

Lau Lau is the most spiritual of the Piplings and is the best at Yogo, bringing calmness and insight to her group of friends.

Decorate this area of the room with purple and lilac balloons, streamers and other items. Place anything glittery or sparkly here, and add texture with velvet, silk, satin or furry drapes, cushions and material. Anything representing dancing or painting can go here, such as an easel or ballet shoes.

Lau Lau's area can be your crafting area! Hold painting, crafting and sculpting activities here, along with party dancing.

Get the children being creative with some Waybuloo crafts! They could make Pipling pictures, sculptures, cards or even jewellery! Here are some suggestions, along with some fun Lau Lau games:

* Come Dancing with Lau Lau - hold a dancing competition, teach some dances, or play a dancing version of Simon Says, where Lau Lau says what dance move to do!

* Painting - provide finger paints or child paints and brushes, and get the kids painting pictures of Piplings, Nara and Cheebies! Set a theme or let the imagination run wild

* In one episode, Lau Lau makes crowns for all the Piplings out of twigs and twine, then decorates each one with a sparkly crystal. Provide materials for the children to create their own crowns and decorate not just with crystals but anything else you can think of, such as glitter, leaves, buttons or chipboard shapes!

* Be Creative - run a competition to draw a new type of Nara creature or berry

* Provide Play-Doh or salt dough and get the children sculpting their very own Piplings

* Provide craft materials for making something Pipling-related, such as jewellery, bags, paper ornaments, magnets or picture frames

* Have face painting fun and paint each little face like their favourite Pipling!

* For a fun Lau Lau game, try this! In the episode Snuggly Nest, Lau Lau loses her sparkly cushion and the Piplings hunt for it by following the unravelled thread from the cushion. Buy a long reel of sparkly silver thread and run it around the house, up and over and under all kinds of obstacles (although keep it safe!) - the children have to follow the thread and find the prize at the end of it!

De Li is the pink Pipling who resembles a cat. She represents love and is the most affectionate and nurturing of the Piplings. De Li is shy and sometimes holds back a bit, but she is warm and loving towards her fellow Piplings and the Cheebies.

De Li loves nature, gardening and cooking. She loves to grow flowers in her pod's garden and gather food for the others, and is always thinking up gifts and surprises for the Piplings and Cheebies.

Decorate this area of the party room with pink items. Use flowers, pretend cupcakes and other De Li-inspired objects, along with pink balloons, streamers, accessories and more.

Activities for this area should include anything to do with food and flowers, and games involving sharing.

Bring the outdoors inside with some gardening fun or make some yummy treats! Here are some ideas for De Li activities.

* Provide flower pots or seed trays along with bags of soil and little watering cans. Give out seeds (fun flowers such as sunflowers) and get the kids planting. If in pots they can take them home to watch them grow!

* If the party is during the summer, take the kids out into the garden for some gardening fun!

* Have fun making something for the garden, or paint a flower pot!

* Print out cards with flower pictures on - make sure there are two of each picture. Ply Matching Pairs or Flower Power Snap

* Make some yummy cakes! Depending on the age of the children and number of adults available to help, bake anything from simple Chocolate Cornflake or Chocolate Rice Crispie cakes, to cupcakes, muffins or cookies. Don't forget aprons and lots of protective surface coverings! Take the creations away and bake in the kitchen while other games take place, then bring them back in when dessert is served, so that the children can decorate with special sprinkles. Or, if making cupcakes, bring them back in before tea and help the children ice them in the form of Pipling faces!

* Make or paint something for the garden that would be found in Nara - for example a birdhouse for Nara birdies!

The Piplings practice Yogo, similar to yoga but with more simple movements, which are inspired by the things that the Piplings see in Nara, such as birds, trees and Narabugs.

The 'Call to Yogo' occurs when the sun shines on the four beautiful crystals of the ancient Yogo machine (each one matches in colour to a Pipling). The machine starts turning and makes a beautiful chiming sound - the Piplings stop what they are doing when they hear this and hurry to the front of the Yogo machine.

In each episode of Waybuloo, the Piplings perform four Yogo poses at the start of the show and later repeat the same poses with the Cheebies.

Make a Yogo area by hanging some coloured crystals from the ceiling, and if you have a sundial, place it underneath, or paint a cardboard version. You could give the crystals away as prizes at the end of the party, or use them to hang in your child's bedroom window!

1. Provide an area for Yogo as described above. Put down mats for safety.

2. Play a gong or chime sound to the children at the start of the party, and explain that whenever they hear this, everyone gathers under the crystals for some Yogo!

3. Sound the gong or chime throughout the day

4. Show the children which poses you are going to do, and explain how to do them as you demonstrate.

5. Get the children to join in with the poses!
