Easy Ways To Manage Anger

We all get overwhelmed by anger from time to time... but, if you find yourself frequently losing control over simple things, it may be time to start finding alternative ways to let off steam. Here you'll find a few simple ways to manage anger more positively.

The First Way To Manage Anger

Ok, you're already doing this first strategy as you're reading this...it's...(drum roll)... breathing. I told you these would be simple ways.

The key is focusing on your breathing.

Take deep breaths to calm yourself down. What you want to do is, stop thinking about what is bugging you and take a nice deep breathe in (preferably through your nose), hold it for a second or two... then breathe out slowly through your mouth. Do this for 10 inhalations and exhalations.

For more information on 'breathing for relaxation' do a search using your favorite search engine. Once you master breathing...lol, you will be able to apply this technique whenever you need to control your anger.

Communication Is The Key To Managing Anger

Another really simple way for you to manage your anger would be to talk it out. You need to be able to talk about your feelings and express your anger through communication. Try to hold back from saying the first thing that comes to your mind. This would be a good time to think before you speak.

Slow down and give yourself time to think about how you're going to respond. If you are in a heated exchange, you need to take a step back and think about things. It's easier said than done... but try not to get caught up in the moment. Do your breathing techniques and settle yourself down. Once you calm down, you will be able talk about the problem better.

Laughter Truly Is The Best Policy

If all else fails, think about how you can make light of the situation so that anger is not taking over. Use humor to defend the anger that is building up. This will give you a better outlook on the situation and you less likely to scream and yell.
