"Probably the best radio station in the world..."

My History With WDVX Radio

Before moving to their new studio in downtown Knoxville at the corner of Gay St. and Summit Hill Avenue, WDVX transmitted out of a trailer in a trailer park right alongside I-75 in Anderson County, the next county north of Knox county.
Even then they had fans all over the world for their quality americana, blue grass, roots, classic country, and traditional mountain music.

Here's thing that makes this an interesting topic for me:

Not only does WDVX play an incredible array of Americana, Hillbilly, Classic Country, Bluegrass, Folk, and such...
And on top of that, keeps my cultural heritage (one of the few left in America) strong...
No, it's this:

I lived within a few miles of the trailer studio for years and years, and never went to visit.

Never. Not even when I was selling jewelry at a craft fair in that very trailer park.

Sometimes I'm plumb dense.

The radio is an extremely handy device for listening to music and entertainment wherever you go. It is a small device that catches radio frequency which is a different bandwidth than the ones we use for mobile or satellite communication. Radios are widely seen installed in many other devices as a collaborated part. All mp3 players have the ability to turn on the radio. The computer, the internet and even your mobile phone has the capacity. Radio is a favorite amongst many and can be found in almost every household. Even the regular music players have the radio facility. The radio has been known to be used by almost all the populous in any given area. Every city has its own radio channel and citizens from around the world have a radio station and radio jockey they love and identify most with.

Digital radio a hybrid system in which analog carriers offer a digital signal to FM radio "side bands." This means that conventional radio stations can broadcast their analog signals on one band like they always have before and an exact replica signal over a digital side band. Trinidad Radio

Thought I would take a listen since I am a big music nut of all genres. They are playing some pretty good music as of now. Thats cool how they started in a trailer park. I was an inturn at my college radio station in the 70s. Not as a dj but as a record runner. When someone requested a song I had to go dig it out of the huge stack that was supposedly in alphabetical order.. Yeah right. It was located in an apartment complex. Not an apartment specifically, but some room they used for parties etc... The good ole days.
