Reading Fiction on the Internet, a great way to discover new Fiction!
Web-Fiction is fiction originally written to be published on the web. This can be either instead of a paper edition, or in addition to one. Books and the Internet are intertwining more each day. Think about blogs made into books (or blooks anyone?), the Amazon Kindle, and so on. It is only logical that some authors decide to use the internet as a major publishing platform. And thus Web-Fiction was born!
Read on for more information on the Why and What of Web-Fiction, and Where you can get some!
It is well to read everything of something,
and something of everything.

Give Web-Fiction a try!
4 reasons why reading online can be great
- It's Convenient
Dull hour at work? Problems sleeping at night? Computer-addict? No problem, Web-Fiction comes to the rescue! In fact often web-fiction is serialized, so you can get a daily, weekly or monthly shot of fiction! Or you can pick a short-story to read on your mobile phone when your bus is late again. The possibilities are endless. - It's Cheap
In fact, 99% of the time it's free! You'll probably think that when it's free it must be ridiculously bad, but that isn't the case. After all, the website you are browsing on is free too isn't it?
The About Section on the Web Fiction guide says it better then I could:
"Web comics are free, but some of them are better than what you'd get in a newspaper. Opinion blogs are free, but some are better than what you'd get in a magazine.
Quality and price seldom have much to do with each other, when it comes to creativity."
- Questions? Ask the Author
A major reason why people publish online is the ability of the internet to connect. Readers can comment on chapters, email the author with budding questions, or give immediate feedback on the plot, their favorite characters, or enthusiasm on where the story is going.
But not only positive feedback is wanted. Well meant criticism is something every author needs and wants, and this is where you come in!
Often it feels like the author is in your room, telling you a story, and answering any questions you might have. It's a great experience! - Opinionated? Discuss with Fellow Readers
The internet is a great way to connect with people with similar tastes. With Web-Fiction you don't have to search for fan-clubs or discussion boards. You can comment right on the published chapter or story, and get quick response from fellow readers. It's like an instant book-club!

Web-Fiction made into Books
and available on Lulu.com
Most of the time these authors will update the story regularly online, and when a work is finished they will publish it in print too. Others simultaneously publish an online and print edition...
There still is the option to read the traditional way, for those of you still wary of reading on-screen. You can support any of these authors by buying one of their books on Lulu. If you're not sure the fiction will be quality, you can check out first online if it will be your cup of tea.
Who knows, you might get bitten by the Web-Fiction bug anyway :)
Scary Mary
Mary just wants to be left alone, but the cheerleaders, jocks, guidance counselors, and ghosts won't stop harrassing her. When a new boy starts school, he surprises Mary by befriending her. That's a rare thing for the school freak, but her unusual abilities put a rift in their budding friendship when Mary has to tell Cy that his home is haunted and not by Casper, the friendly ghost.
Alisiyad
Twenty-year-olds Liseli Luenford and Russell Markson are living mundane, disappointing, lonely lives in a small midwestern town; working jobs better suited for high school students. Both want something more from life, though what exactly they cannot name, or even begin to achieve.
Liseli finds solace in the Mill, a building on the edge of town, long abandoned and all but forgotten. Russ comforts himself with thoughts of Liseli.
One day both of their dreams seem to come true, when together they stumble into a strange otherworld hidden in the doorway of the old Mill. But dark secrets and mysteries from the past haunt the land of Alisiya, and dreams turn to nightmares as the two become entangled in a feud that has spanned decades. In order to survive they must change who they are?to each other, to themselves, and to the worlds.
Tales of MU 1: Welcome Weekend
Sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes funny, this book collects the first storyline (22 chapters) of TALES OF MU, an online web serial set in an alternate world where magic rules in place of technology. Mackenzie Blaise is an incoming freshman at Magisterius University, a school that's both out of this world and yet strangely familiar to anybody who's ever been to college. Mackenzie is not your typical "destined to save the world with awesome powers"-type wizarding school student. Cripplingly shy, geeky, and used to being ostracized for not being human enough, Mackenzie struggles to find her place in a dorm full of non-human "freaks" and "monsters"... some of whom find her too human for their tastes. Fans of fantasy gaming and literature will find plenty to chuckle about along the way. Contains frank sexual themes and adult situations... not for the prudish or easily offended.

I post every weekday other than Canadian statutory holidays and the odd vacation on _The Philosopher in Arms_ (vastly-improved version of two dead-tree published novels of mine) and its sequel _asa kraiya : beyond the sword_ (never before published). Call it post-apocalyptic fantasy, character and theme-driven but with action aplenty. Currently #6 on www.topwebfiction.com . "The best serial I have read so far online" - capriox

Elizabeth Whetherby, a bright and intelligent woman, and the youngest child of Wilhelm and Josephina Whetherby, vanished on the night of April 7, 1862. Years later, a stained and weather-beaten diary has been found. The cover, ripped and water-damaged, bears the embossed name "Elizabeth Whetherby." These are her entries.
