Web 2.0

Hey there!~ This lens will help you with the development of your Web 2.0 Websites, by linking you to tons of helpful generators.

Clearly, somehow you have found a way to my lens. Great work! However, depending on if you are a developer, or came here by fluke, you may be wondering; What exactly is Web2.0?

Well, it isn't a new version of the internet, contrary to what the name suggests. No. Instead, it is the latest trend in webdesign that encourages creativity, collaboration, and information sharing among the users.

Web2.0 isn't only a trend. It is also a way of styling your website. Most Web2.0 sites use shiny colors, have badges, and generally look fun. The most notable feature being Simplicity.

Some examples of Web2.0 websites are:
-Youtube
-Blogspot (And most likely your blog,)
-Wikipedia
and many, many more. Those are just ones that you probably recognize, webdesigner or not.

The definition of Web2.0 varies from person to person. To me, it is both a design style, and a form of interactivity for your users. For others, it just means interactivity. For some, it's just a design style.

Stripe Generator

Stripe Generator

Stripe Generator is a tool that will aid you in making stripes for your website. It consists of but a few sliders, that control the colors, size, and other options of your stripes.

I commonly use this tool to design backgrounds for my web2.0 pages. Striped Backgrounds are a notable characteristic of many websites, and they look amazing.

Stripe Designer

Stripe Designer

Same basic concept as Stripe Generator, but executed differently. This tool by Alex Le allows you to make stripes, but in a different way. You are given a canvas with pixels, and you have to make the stripes. It even has images you can use as a background behind the stripes!

Of course, it also has pre-designed stripes that you can choose from, and edit if you wish, making this both a helpful tool, and a helpful collection for webdesign, even though it was originally designed for Photoshop.

Web 2.0 Logo Creatr

Photobucket

Although primarily a joke, this has become a very useful tool in the Web 2.0 Design field. Web 2.0 Logo Creatr is, well, a logo maker, making Web 2.0 Logos. You can jump into the Faq sections, and figure out how to color everything, as well.

Great site, very useful. I highly suggest it to anyone.

Tabs Generator

Tabs Generator

Let's face it-- Web 2.0 Navigation is always better with tabs. Well, almost always, at least. However, tabs are so much harder to make than a normal link list menu, or a box menu.

Fear not, Alex 'Pit' La Rosa and Fabio Fidanza (The creators of Stripe Generator,) have come to the rescue, with this fantastic tool. Allowing you to change the height, width, border size, colors, gradients, orientations, and much more, you can easily make tabs in a matter of seconds using Tabs Generator.

Web 2.0 Badges

Perhaps the most used Web 2.0 trends is badges. They can announce the beta status of your web page, show off your latest deal, or display any other kind of important text. Not only that, they are stylish, and almost expected to show up on any Web 2.0 website.

This tool lets you do all that. You start by selecting a base image, then you choose the text, the color, and the angle. Good job! You're done.

Quick Ribbon

Quick Ribbon is a Ribbon Generator with a twist. Not only does it let you choose the edge style, Text color, all three ribbon colors, and the text, but it also supplies you with the code to have the ribbon appear at the top right of your page, AND host your image.

What more could you want?

Loader Generator

Web 2.0 often times uses Ajax, Flash, or other scripting languages that require loading. Of course, if it is just a blank page until it loads, some of your potential customers, or your viewers, could disappear. Now, with Flash, you can easily make a loading screen. But what about Ajax? You can, but it is a lot easier just to use an image. And, often times it looks nicer.

If you believe that as well, then Loader Generator is for you. You can pick your choice of 132 base images (at the time of this writing,) then you can pick the background and foreground color, along with a size. And don't worry for those of you with image backgrounds, or gradients-- There is a transparency option.

BGPatterns

Photobucket

BGPatterns is a unique concept, which can really become famous quite quick. What you do is pick some colors, an optional texture, choose a rotation, and pick an image, then it makes a tilable image, to be used as the background of a website.

This tool also has what many of the others don't: An option to preview it in it's natural environment. (As the background of a page.)

Ajaxload

Although this tool is similar to Loader Generator, it is also different. It's smaller amount of base images to choose from means it will load and generate faster, and, of course, you get to still choose from a bunch of colors to customize your Loaders completely.
