Web 2.0 Sites and Traffic Generation

What Can You Expect From Social Bookmarking?

For one of my blogs, 4 of the top 11 referrers (#7, 8, 9 and 11) are web 2.0 or social sites.

This doesn't include the link referrers in my stats that includes sites like Propeller, Squidoo and Hub Pages, which are all top link referrers to this blog as well.

So, done properly, you can definitely generate web site traffic from web 2.0 sites and other social sites.

You also get quality backlinks that help to improve your search engine rankings.

Keep in mind that I said done properly. This means using these social sites the way they were intended.

You need to only submit high quality content (not every article or blog post you make), and you need to participate in the social site communities by interacting, voting on, and submitting quality content from sites that aren't your own.

Don't approach web 2.0 sites as a marketer.

Become a helpful part of the community. It's really no different than any of type of effective marketing. You're there to help, not to sell.

If you don't follow these rules, you not only won't generate the traffic you want, you'll get banned from these web 2.0 sites for being a spammer.

Do it right and prosper. Do it wrong and all you'll do is waste your time, or worse, ruin your web site.

Web 2.0 Sites and Traffic Generation

1. Web 2.0 Authority Sites (Squidoo, Hub Pages) - Used properly sites like Squidoo and Hub Pages can do two things very effectively.

They can get you top rankings in the search engines for the pages you create on these sites and they can generate high quality one way links to your web site or blog.

Creating a presence on Squidoo or Hub Pages is quite easy.

It's very important that you create something worthwhile with high quality content that people will find useful.

Not only will this help in getting high search engine rankings, people will want to click through on your links to your main site.

These pages are a crucial part of any one way link building strategy and can generate a lot of traffic.

8. Remote Blogging - Remote blogging is nothing more than setting up blogs in your niche on sites like Blogger.com or Wordpress.com.

You then create quality content to post on these blogs and use one way links back to your main site for people to find more information on that topic.

2. Social Bookmarking - Create account at social bookmarking sites and then bookmark quality content on your site.

Set up various accounts at OnlyWire and get an account at Stumble Upon as well.

3. Web 2.0 Social Community Sites (MyBlogLog, SpicyPage, Bumpzee) - Create accounts at these sites and then actively participate in various communities about your niche and build up your list of friends.

Utilize these one way link building strategies from web 2.0 sites and before you know it, you'll not only have high quality one way links back to your site or blog, you'll also be getting a flood of targeted traffic.
