The Real Reason You're Not Getting Results
We all know content is king. Blah, blah, blah. You may have heard it all before but the truth is content marketing is the single most effective way to generate traffic, leads, back-links and sales on the Internet. The traffic from good content in the form of articles, video and social media is much higher quality than you can get from almost any paid advertising. It simply converts traffic to leads and leads to sales better than any other promotional strategy.
But what if your toiling away writing content, distributing articles, publishing videos and setting up social media profiles and it is not working. Your not getting traffic or your getting traffic that is not becoming leads. There maybe any number of reasons for this problem and many of them may be completely out of your control. With that being said, I have outlined some of the most common problems that can negatively impact your content marketing on the web.
Poor Quality Content
People want good quality content that answers questions, provides solutions or entertains. So much of the content on the web is created too quickly for the purpose of marketing first and not to provide valuable information to the consumer. This is a big mistake. It doesn't matter if you are putting out hundreds of article a day if they are poorly written they are not going to be read and they are essentially worthless and a waste of time. One high quality article that hits a hot button can become viral and drive more traffic to your web site and create more back-links than thousands of junk articles.
Focus on providing value to the web search surfer with high quality well written content and you will reap the rewards. Otherwise you might as well spend your time doing something else.
Stop Trying To Sell
Educate, inform and entertain but stop trying to sell in your content. People love to buy but hate to be sold. They also love to buy from those who provide value and expertise in a given field. Use your content to become a credible expert in your industry and sales will happen naturally. People go to the web for information not to buy something. They buy things as a secondary response to education.
For example, if you are promoting a weight loss product. Instead of doing videos talking about your fantastic weight loss solution, produce videos that provide weight loss tips, advice and education and people will learn to trust you and will then buy your products without hesitation.
Boring, Boring, Boring
Your content is bland and boring. I can best illustrate this concept with an example that focuses only on titles. Based on these two titles alone which article do you think is going to get more traffic?

The first is boring. The second creates curiosity and will get noticed. These titles show how you can make your content more interesting but it doesn't just apply to titles. If your content doesn't deliver what is promised in the title people won't even finish reading let alone click the links in your resource box.
Inconsistent Content Production
The search engines love marketers that consistently publish fresh new content. The last thing they want is for web surfers to search on a topic and get stale odd information. Publish new content on a regular basis and you will see your ranking increase not to mention your subscriber loyalty. If people like your content they will anxiously await more. When this happens they will buy whenever you make the offer.
Content marketing is what works. It has always been that way and still is even amongst fierce competition from thousands of marketers. But don't let the competition discourage you. The majority of marketers are not focused on quality content. They have believed the lies that say quantity is king and while they put out ten thousands new articles and videos every month without ever getting any real traffic you can quietly publish a few non-boring highly informative pieces each week and watch your sales soar.
