Webkinz: This Year's Hot Toy for the Elementary Crowd
We were introduced to Webkinz when our daughter received one for her birthday. The little stuffed poodle came with instructions to go to the webkinz website to adopt and care for the Webkinz.
If you have a child that likes stuffed animals and/or like to use a computer, you should get her/him a Webkinz toy. There is lots to do, even for fairly young children (although they do need to do some reading, otherwise you'll need to do it with them). In Webkinz world the pet that they received lives in a virtual room. You can get furniture, decorations, even wallpaper to liven up their room. There are also interactive toys,games, outdoor equipment (we got a pool for our puppy, and she will swim in it!) that you can purchase with "Kinzcash". You earn the kinzcash by playing games in the Arcade, by filling out surveys and by doing different daily activities. The games are a lot of fun - simple in concept in most cases, but not easy to master.
If a friend has a webkin you can invite them to come to visit your pet in your room. You can also play with others in the Tournament area, where you play games together. There are stories and a wide variety of activites. It is great for both boys and girls.
Even my wife loves to go to the Webkinz site and play with the toy in the virtual arcade, and buy items in the curio shop.
Because your chid can communicate with other Webkinz owners this toy is interesting from a viral marketing standpoint.
Webkinz are not very expensive and would make a great gift. Perfect to take to a birthday party or put under the tree on Christmas. If your child has a Webkinz and gives one to a friend, make sure your child shares his/her Webkinz username so that the kids can play and communicate at the Webkinz website.

How Webkinz Can Be Used to Teach Important Life Lessons
Webkinz were developed for more than simple imaginative play. They were created to introduce and strengthen interactive life lessons for your child. When a boy or girl gets a Webkinz, they might think it's another soft, cuddly friend for them to play with.
But as they begin participating in the world of Webkinz, they begin to develop characteristics you can be proud of. Their nurturing side will be brought out as they learn to love and care for their Webkinz.

They learn time management skills, too. You've probably seen kids who get wrapped up in video games and hours pass without them even realizing it. In the Webkinz world, their pet will suffer from neglect (even though it can't die), and the child will learn to manage his or her time better.
This toy is especially great if your family is considering getting a living pet. A child may not realize the amount of care and attention an animal friend requires, and a Webkinz toy is a great introduction into what that will mean.
Don't assume the site itself (or the toy) will give your child all of life's answers - it won't. but it's a fantastic resource for parents to provide for their child to supplement the values you teach them at home.

Hi there,
After being bugged for long enough I have decided to buy my little one some of these toys but I am having problems finding them in my area. I have been looking to Buy Webkinz online but there are so many places and such different prices. Would you think ebay is the best place to get some from or from a online toyshop?
