Webkinz World

My children seem to have become obsessed with these little plush Webkinz animals.  I didn't quite see the attraction at first and I was determined that my children did not follow the next trend but, what can you say, I gave in and I purchased my 6 year old her first Webkinz for her birthday.  That was on October 6th and then she received 3 more from her friends.  Her first Webkinz was the Alley cat, which she named Ally.  When she received her pet, she quickly scooted downstairs and went to work on the computer to adopt her new pet.  You see, Webkinz are more than just the plush toys.  They are a doorway to a little cyber world of Webkinz pets.  It's kind of like a very PG rated Second Life for children (ok it's nothing like Second Life). 

Every Webkinz pet wears a tag with a secret code which becomes the password into Webkinz World.  After they log in, kids can name and adopt their new pet, learn all about it, play and have fun. They can "chat" with other members, invite other members over, play trivia challenges, visit the arcade and shop for clothes, food, toys and furniture at the W Shop.  The site is clearly safe as it is impossible for a child to have any personal contact with any other member via their chat menu. 

Now considering I have 3 little girls we have 10 pets in our home at this moment.  What they don't know is that I have 6 more waiting for them...ok crazy I know, but with every pet you can add a room to your house.  These accounts also only last a year, so you basically have to keep updated with pets (at least yearly) so you do not lose your account..smart isn't it?  Why didn't I think of this..how easy would it be to sell stuffed animals and set up a Website?  Well no I don't have the programming skills...but hey it seems simple doesn't it?

Well that was somewhat off topic, wasn't it?  It's late, what can I say.  Anyway I have included some information within this lens but I also have another site which has more information including the list of all pets with their item, food, release and retired (if applicable) dates.  Check it out and leave feedback for what you think I should add to the Webkinztoys site.
