Living and Painting in the North Country
The North Country is a northern pike, striking hard. It is the plaintive cry of the loon, bouncing off the water's surface and wandering through the pines like a restless ghost. It is the swish-swish sound of skis cutting a path through newly fallen snow. It is mini-donuts, corn dogs, and lemon shake-ups. It is hot dishes and hot pads, you betchya.
Weborg Lodge combines two of my passions — painting and the outdoors. I live and work in the land of 10,000 lakes, which gives me all the inspiration I need both for painting and plenty of opportunities to enjoy nature. Pour yourself a beverage and explore the beauty of this idyllic place.

Just Off the Easel
Here is my latest. I was inspired by the dense fogs we've been experiencing lately as the ice on the lake starts the great melt. It has a lonely kind of feel to it, which happened to be my mood at the time. I wanted there to be a bit of light, hope, thus the lighted windows. There's warmth and company to be found there. Hope you like it.Available

My Favorite Painting
I read somewhere that artists should keep their favorite paintings and not sell them. Should have followed that advice. I created this painting about two years ago before I adopted the cat that would be absolute double of the subject of this work. Maybe that is part of its attraction for me. Maybe it's the position of the cat. Maybe it's the lazy, sleepy kind of feeling of the scene. And just maybe, I'll have to paint it again--and not sell it! Great Stuff on Amazon

Engle's paintings are stunning. The artist unselfishly provides detailed instruction on creating paintings that seem effortless. This is not a beginner's book, however.

Lots of great reference photographs with varying degrees of instruction. The book itself is a nice reference if you find yourself stuck about how to paint something.

One Of the Paintings That I'm Most Proud Of

This painting depicts a state park in southeastern Minnesota. Not unlike the Wisconsin Great River Road, the roads are flanked by huge bluffs dug out by the Mississippi River. Truly a spectacular place. Mist Rising
