I just discovered.....

how EASY it is to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to add a slide show to my non profit group web page! It's not completely done yet, but wow!! what a difference it makes in the presentation of photos that add  interest to each section.

How it's done: Step One

Firstly, collect the photos you want and size them to about 500 by 500 pixels. It works best to have them all about the same size. If some are smaller than others, try re-sizing the CANVAS. Title each one and place into a seperate folder. (This folder will be your "source" folder) All images should be in .jpeg format. BE SURE to write out the "FILE INFO" section, with a title and a description. If possible, you should also change the NAME of your image to something that makes sense, for example "dog one" will make more sense if it happens to show up on the webphoto page than "image 10698" and also for your own information when viewing which photos you have in your "source" folder this is more helpful.

Step 2: Organize

The next step is to create a seperate EMPTY folder (this one will be your destination folder). It is best to place this folder into the site area that you will be uploading to the internet. Label this folder with one word.

Step 3: Publish

Now it is time to actually CREATE your web slide show or web collection of photos. Photoshop elements has a little thing called "make web show" listed under the file options. click on this. then go through each option, from the general settings to the banners settings, the styles of the pages, etc....

(you may want to create a "PRACTICE" web show first...)

Select your various options, and choose the SOURCE folder as your folder with all your images. Choose the DESTINATION folder as the empty folder. Then click on OK and presto!!! Photoshop just does its thing and your web slide show comes up on your preview browser! WOW!!!

(to see a real webshow in action, visit our IOWA SEARCH AND RESCUE website) (http://www.isark9.org)

Final Step

All that remains now is the "polishing" of your pages and then the uploading to the actual site. Photoshop will "show" you your slide show right after it is done categorizing and sorting the photos. So you can try out BEFORE you upload, all the different styles. Photoshop gives you different styles to choose from...some styles are an actual slide show, others are collections of images where you click on the thumbnaiils to enlarge. The fact that it is pretty much designed for you is the best part! Experiment with the different styles, you can make some practice ones first. After you have selected the actual style you want, make a new destination folder (or empty the first one) and have Photoshop make another "web photo album". Then BEFORE you upload , be sure if you need to edit the text on your slide show, you open your "index" page and edit before publishing.

When you are done "polishing" then simply upload your whole web show folder to the actual web site. Be sure you ALSO add appropriate links your web site so people can go and VIEW your web show!

If technologically challenged person like me can do this, so can YOU!

It seems like you're missing part of your tutorial. Could you let me know when the rest is up there?
