WebSpinstress Gothic Art and Design

I'm known as WebSpinstress, because I spin my own webs of elegant Gothic images and decor in both real and virtual worlds.

I aim to poison others with inspiration and creativity as a writer, artist, web designer, wife, and a Mommy. :-)

I love to create dark and romantic paintings, graphics, costumes, merchandise, and decor that appeals to everyone, whether self-proclaimed Gothic or not.

About Me

Who is WebSpinstress?

It's very hard for me to write about myself - in fact, this will be the 30th lens that I publish, but one of the first lenses that I started writing...

I'm 27 years old, and live in New Hampshire (USA). I'm a work-at-home Mommy to two small boys who are 2 and 4-years-old. My husband and I started dating on my 19th birthday, and we celebrated 8 happy years together by getting married last year on Halloween.

I've been designing web sites and graphics since I was 15, so for 12 years now. Time flies when your addicted to Photoshop. :-) I have been publishing ideas on various subjects and marketing other businesses since I was a teenager, but have chosen to focus my attention on my own artistic creations with the support of my friends and family.

I'm creative and I feel the need to share my artistic side with the world. Up until this year, my paintings and digital artwork were personal and I was skeptical about selling my designs. I've offered information and products before, but this is a new step for me. They don't use the phrase "starving artists" for nothing, so I've relied on my marketing skills for the majority of my career to hold me over. In the past few months, I've learned that many people appreciate similar tastes in art; people from all walks of life so to speak...and it has become even more of an exciting venture to me. This has made my new goal and passion in life to be inspiration itself.

Gothic Contemporary Paintings

Gothic Art on Canvas by WebSpinstress

My paintings are the work of my left hand. They are contemporary in style, with subtle dark touches to add mystique to each canvas. I was afraid to use color outside of the Photoshop world for many years until I picked up a paintbrush. I specialize in tribal designs, since pen sketches were my initial forte, then moved on to black permanent marker on canvas. Yes, permanent marker - I try different mediums. Then came paint.

I sold my very first piece to a tattoo artist, who fell in love with my Gothic Dragon. It was an Oriental dragon made up hidden tribal symbols, and he encouraged me to pick up a tattoo gun soon after. I still prefer paper and canvas to human canvas though. Art supplies don't move or complain when you design them. ;-)

My favorite piece is entitled "Wine of the Black Widow", shown here. It's a 2-piece canvas set and each side measures 12x24. Originally, I was going to add more designs to the right side of the canvas, but many people fell in love with the way it currently is. I decided not to add to it, for the concept that it is already full and what's left is up to the imagination is highly intriguing to me. The painting above is also a 2-piece set, entitled "Tribal Origins" and is a favorite of most of my friends and family. It currently sits in between a 3-piece dragon wall sculpture that looks like it's going through the wall in my home.

Gothic Digital Artwork

Gothic Graphic Art by WebSpinstress

My digital art is created with my right hand, because that's what I mouse with. It's categorized more as Gothic fantasy art than anything else, I think. It's funny how there is a difference in style and design concepts when merely switching hands...

I create a lot of Gothic fantasy graphics and designs for use on my merchandise and articles. I tend to try and make everything black and deep shades of red, so I have to kick myself into using unique colors quite often, remembering that other people do enjoy varied ranges of the color spectrum.

My favorite digital piece shown here "SpiderWeb Romance" was designed for my Gothic Spider Web Living Room Theme article, and captures most of my favorite personal design concepts all in one. :-) I love the artistic qualities that can be shown using webs, masquerade themes, and dragons.

I take on many projects to keep me busy during the long days including, but not limited to: painting, graphics, web design, writing, marketing, promotion, creating new products, crafting, decorating, research & design, and rediscovering the World again in a new perspective with my 2 young boys. :-)

Gothic Home Decorating

Gothic pillows, bedding, masks, and decor

I publish my articles here on Squidoo, because it's easy, fun, and more rewarding than many other blogging and social networking websites available. My main niches are Gothic Home Decorating and Halloween, but I have veered much farther away from topic.

Having a unique and creative home has always been important to me. It inspires all who visit to remember to add a little bit of themselves to everything they do in life. Once having kids, it became more important in order to show them how lucky we are to be able to have and display our individuality.

The photo above is our living room, through the kitchen cutout window perspective. My personal decorating tastes are dark and romantic with a modern twist.
