Planning a wedding is exciting, but can also be stressful, time consuming and expensive if not done properly. A lot of couples desire to plan their own wedding but are hesitant because of the factors I have mentioned above.

This lens aims to give tips and advice on how to plan your fantasy wedding without being too stressed about cost and all that could go wrong.

First Things First

The first thing to bear in mind is that, there is no such thing as a "perfect wedding". This is because, weddings are planned by human beings and who are far from being perfect. As such don't feel too stresses about wanting to plan a "perfect wedding", but rather aim for a wedding that will be wonderful and fun regardless of the little things that may not go as well as planned. Hopefully, with this kind of mentality you will enjoy Planning instead of enduring it.

Secondly, contrary to what the media and other people say, you do not need to go bankrupt in order to have the fantastic wedding that you've always dreamed of. Whether your budget is $6000 or $ 60000 you can have a wonderful wedding if you are equipped with enough information.

Wedding Planning Cost Saving Guide 1

Set a budget

The budget should be the first thing you do because all other plans will revolve around the amount of money at your disposal .You and your fiancée would have to sit down and decide exactly how much you can reasonably afford to use for the wedding. It will be helpful if you could write this amount down.

Then, allocate the amount of money you will use for each category of your to do list. For example, you could allocate 20% of the money to wedding attire. By doing this, you will know exactly how much you can spend on a particular category. I must also point out that it is imperative to keep track of your actual expenses by recording each one you make regardless of how small it may be. This is because, the little expense here and there will quickly add up very fast.

The Guest list

Most brides will tell you that their weddings ended up being bigger than what they actually planned. This is more often than not caused by each family insisting on inviting as many of their own guest as possible. As you may know, a large guest list has a direct effect of inflating the cost of the wedding.
In order to avoid this, you and each of your families could be allocated a certain number of people they can invite. Remember that your budget may not allow you to invite everyone you want to ask and in that case you will have to shorten your list. When writing your invitations think of the most important people in your lives first.
1. Immediate family
2. Close friends
1. Extended family
4. Friends and colleagues at work

Wedding Stationary ( Invitation, thank you cards etc.)

After deciding on your guest list, the next thing is to get your wedding invitations. First of all, decide on what type of design that you want and then use these 3 tips to save some money

If you are creative, one of the best ways you can costs here is to make your own wedding stationary. You can look in wedding magazines to find ideas. Creating your own wedding invitations will save you money and make your wedding stationary unique. The downside is that, it can be time consuming.

You could also save money by avoiding fancy and elegant printing techniques since they are more expensive. Go for the least expensive ones like laser printing.

If you make a decision to buy your invitation cards, don't just buy from the first merchant you come into contact with. The best way to save money will be to shop around and get about 3 to 4 quotes from different retailers and then compare them and choose the best price.

Wedding Planning Cost Saving Guide 4

Wedding Attire

This includes attire for the bride, her attendants, the groom, and his attendants. A good way to cut down attire costs is to ask your attendants to help pay for their gowns and tuxedos. Reduce menswear cost by having the men wear suits they already own.

Wedding dresses are worn only once. So you could avoid spending a fortune by borrowing or renting. This could save you a lot of money.

Two other ways is to ask a family, friend or a seamstress to sew the wedding and bridesmaid gowns for you. It's unlikely that a friend or seamstress will charge you as much as a bridal shop. If you go for a seamstress, choose one that has experience in this area and ask to see past dresses they have made.

Buying at "off the rack" sales can help you save because you can get otherwise expensive wedding attire at hugely discounted prices. Again, online stores are a great way to find affordable wedding attire. But, remember that buying online will not afford you the same customer support as buying offline.
