You have a beautiful diamond on your finger, and the man of your dreams asking for your hand in marriage. It is like a dream come true. Your thoughts are soaring about your special day. What song will you dance to? Where will you have the reception? What will you wear? And on and on the planning thoughts go. You work for a year or more planning the perfect day, but what have you done to insure the perfect life.

Most couples don't start out planning for marriage problems. They all think they are going to have the perfect life together, much in the same way that you do. Unfortunately, problems come up, many of which can be avoided with good communication from the start. Marriage counselors are there to help you plan the perfect marriage. I honestly think that most people don't seek out marriage counseling before marriage, because they are under the assumption that counseling is just for when a marriage has hit rock bottom. For when you need to stop divorce and there is no other way to save marriage. This is not so. Marriage counseling is a good way to make sure that you are both on the same page prior to getting married. A counselor can help you see areas of your relationship that need work, and help you to close any gaps in your perceptions prior to walking down the isle.

Be sure to invest at least as much time into planning your life together as you do in planning your wedding day, and you will not only have the perfect day, but the perfect life to follow it.
