The problem with buying wedding Invitations online

If you are like most people, the most convenient way to search is to type in a search query into the search engine of your choice. If "wedding invitations" is your search term, you might be surprised to find well over 20 million pages in Google. Where do you start? Which company is reliable? What about customer service? Which company has the widest selection of papers and designs? What about the quality of "discounted" or "cheap" wedding invitations? All of these are valid and useful questions. While it is possible that you might find the wedding invitation of your dreams on the internet, the odds are stacked against you. Finding the "right" wedding invitation is best done by visiting one or more stores in your neighborhood and discussing your requirements and budge with a qualified stationer. Why?

First, internet image resolutions are generally not higher than 72 pixels, generating images of inferior quality and often distorted to avoid reproduction. With a limited internet color range, different monitor resolutions and poor quality image reproduction, it is almost impossible to determine the final design of your printed invitation.

Second, paper texture and the weight of the paper stock are vital components in selecting your invitation. By visiting a store in your neighborhood you can feel hundreds of paper samples rather than a few that might be sent to you by an online store?

Third, identical ink colors can change radically depending on the printing process you use. It is far better to see true color reproduction on different paper stock at a Guild Member store rather than leave it to chance with your online dealer?

Fourth, leading paper companies and designers recognize that crafting a custom wedding invitation is more than filling-in an online template. Most leading fine paper companies do not sell custom invitations online. They simply want the buyer to feel their papers, discuss printing options and receive expert advice from an experienced stationer before making a major financial commitment. In short, they want the buyer to have a positive outcome based on "real" samples and expert advice rather than the "luck-of-the-draw" with an online store.

If you want expert advice, visit a qualified stationer in your neighborhood. Many of the leading stationers can be found on the Guild website. Don't be seduced by the online hype. Some things are best done in person and creating a custom wedding invitation is certainly one of them.
