Our country has become a very self centered place to be. It seems that everywhere you look someone is saying "me, me, my, my, mine, mine". The top priority in everyone's life seems to be themselves. No one seems to see how this is playing out in the youth of our country. They don't seem to have any regard for anyone but themselves. They don't care about littering, lying, stealing, as long as it gets them what they want they are okay with it.

In no place is this clearer than in the marriages of today. One person gets mad at the other person, or gets their feelings hurt, or gets done wrong, and then they are heading to an attorney to file for divorce. Well, there is some marriage advice that will help some of you out there. These are some things that should be thought about before you let some minor marriage problems send you off seeking a divorce. These things can stop divorce and save marriage.

1. Never go to bed angry at each other. This may sound very cliché but it is true, your subconscious will be focused on that anger all night long. It is much better to close your marriage day on a good note, and go to sleep feeling loved.
2. Focus on the things in that person that drew you to marry them in the first place. If you can't remember then try to focus on their good qualities. This will help you draw the current problems into perspective.
3. If you are unhappy, then think about (no the problems) but how you want your relationship to be and what things you can do to help foster that type of climate in your relationship.
4. Remember, that you said for better or for worse, and sometimes there is going to be worse. Working through the tough times together builds the character of your relationship.
5. Keep the small things small. Don't nitpick over every little thing. If something they do really bothers you find another way to deal with it.
6. Before and during your marriage, keep in mind that counseling, with a trained professional, is an excellent way to get your relationship on track and keep it there. A marriage counselor can teach you better ways to relate to each other and new and better ways to handle things like stress yourself.
