Beach Wedding Attire Etiquette for Guests

Let's Start with some basics...

When one thinks of the beach they often think of going slightly wild and having loads of fun! When you decide to have a wedding on the beach or attend a wedding on a beach there are a few things you should remember about your wedding attire.

1. Do not out do the Bride and Groom under any circumstances: Well just common respect and decency after all it is their day!

2. Make sure that your perfect wedding attire is not offensive to the couple: Ok this one is easy. If you know the bride and groom would not like what you have on if it stands out so much that it will interrupt the wedding%u2026.don't wear it!

3. Be on time: Just because the wedding is on the beach doesn't mean you can be late! Don't think it is ok to make a fashionably late appearance!

4. If the Groom puts on a Seersucker suit: Don't laugh at him! He's only human!

Now that we have that out of the way, weddings are about enjoying yourself. Remember to have fun but with respect and decency for the couple. Let them enjoy there day and help them make it a night to remember!

Beach Wedding Ettiquette - A few common sense tips for etiquette

Beach weddings are often very different from traditional church weddings and may not always follow traditional style wedding's etiquette. They are typically focused on a comfortable, relaxed setting with usually a smaller guest list. However, planning a beach wedding may require additional thought to etiquette as different needs of guests need to be met. Traditional weddings may not require the extra thought that a beach wedding may such as the weather, guests walking on the sand, location of restrooms, and even hydration.

The bride and groom do have many different options when it comes to planning a beach wedding, whether the wedding is a destination wedding, a simple intimate wedding, or perhaps even a large formal wedding on the beach. If the wedding is a destination beach wedding, save the date cards should be mailed out at least 4 months in advance in order to the guests to prepare for the trip. This will give the guests plenty of time for preparation of reserving the date of the wedding, the time it may take to travel and even saving! If the bride and groom are looking to keep the guest list small and informal, the invitation or save the date should be specific to the requested guests of the family. Also, since beach weddings do not have a standard attire, it is also a good idea to give the guests an indication of what the attire will be as some beach weddings may be very informal allowing Hawaiian style shirts, shorts and flip flops, while others may require suits/pants.

Given that beach weddings are often performed on the sand, it is appropriate to have a hard surfaced aisle runner for guests, especially if elder guests are attending. In the event that guests are able to go shoe-less, there should also be specific location for guests to keep their shoes so they do not have to worry about what to do with them.

The weather also plays an important role in planning an outdoor wedding. It is very important to keep plenty of water available for the guests on a hot sunny day or an alternative location if it were to rain. Before choosing the wedding location, it is a good idea to find out about typical weather patterns in that area at various times of the year. However, since the weather is unpredictable there may be a chance of a surprise shower or even storm. The only solution is to be flexible and have a back-up plan. There should always be an indoor location on hold just in case!
