Wedding Speeches | The Secret to Writing Your Own Amazing Speech
"Overview of Basics on Wedding Speeches"
Weddings come in all shapes and sizes. Many have prepared speeches, many don't, many try to have some, but alas plans - - even the best of them, fall short. So when you are planning a wedding and think you may like to incorporate speeches into it, here is a bief overview of what you need to work into your plans:
1) Who will give what speech and when.
2) Have speeches written out.
3) Hand out speeches, tell the speech makers to practice diligently before the big day. And follow up, having them make a rehearsal speech to you.
4) Keep copies of speeches handy so that when the speech makers leave them at home or otherwise lose them, you'll have a copy handy the day of - and immediately before - they are needed.
5) Make sure speeches are given early on in the reception so that the reception will last longer plus so that the speech makers will hopefully not be intoxicated yet, giving inappropriate toasts.
6) People giving speeches don't always know what to day - at least that's appropriate for the opposite sex a lot of time. So help them out beforehand. Offer notes, outlines, and special points they could reference in their speeches. If something will embarrass you, say so and tell them to steer clear of certain topics.
7) Two of the most important people in charge of speeches are the best man and maid of honor. So each person needs to make sure the wedding rings and any speeches are carefully tucked away inside pockets and in purses. Let these people know that they are in positions of responsibility.
As you can tell, there are many things to take into account with Wedding Speeches.

Writing Tips to begin Your Speech1) Choose a type of speech and determine length. Keep it short and sweet, as a rule, but not too short.
2) Determine the tone: romantic, humorous, sentimental, other.
3) Take a time out alone to gather your thoughts. Then with a pencil and paper, jot down main ideas that you could mention regarding #2 above, calling to mind special moments form the past where you've known the people you will be talking about and referencing in your speech. Don't worry about grammar and spelling here. This is for your eyes only.
4) Regardless of any inner feelings you may have about anyone at the wedding, do not use this as an attempt to get even, get back or otherwise hurt or humiliate anyone. Keep all negative comments, references, words, etc. out.
5) Next develop a rough draft.
6) Practice your speech out loud in front of a mirror and then in front of a friend or two to get feedback. Revise, rework, re-practice until you get your desired goal down on paper. Hire a speech writer if necessary. Search for "speech writer" online in your favorite search engine.
7) If you're stuck for content, include famous quotes, lines from love songs, clean jokes appropriate for all audiences, positive memorable things the other people have said or done, comments or notes that you've asked the other people for ahead of time to help you with this (don't be afraid to ask!)

Wedding Speech | Delivery Tips
Delivery Tipsa) Head to a local toastmasters group or to another place where friends or others will allow you to practice your speech in front of them so that you can get helpful feedback.
b) Be as relaxed as possible during speech time, and before. Try to wear comfortable clothing; i.e. break in any new wedding shoes and stiff clothing beforehand.
c) Take deep breaths to calm down, stand tall and press your feet into the floor to ground yourself. And be calm. Think good, calming thoughts.
d) Pace yourself during your speech and go slow and steady. Don't rush to finish fast.
e) Involve the audience as you can. This isn't a math presentation or something. Mention the bride and groom by names and smile after you say each name, for example.
f) Be prepared. Make sure to practice ahead of time and bring your notes along. Don't get drunk before your speech. And don't let any negative vibes get into the flow, even if you secretly wanted to marry one of the people in the wedding party or something. Be positive and kind.
g) If you mess up something, move on. No need to worry about it at that moment. No need to try and fix it (it could make matters worse.)
h) Stand up, speak up, shut up. Keep it short, to the point, and sit down.

Wedding Speeches | It's All in the Timing
It's All in the TimingUse these tips to help you - and everyone else - at the wedding:
1) Keep your speech short and simple. People are hungry. People get bored out of their wits at weddings. People want to get on with their day and leave. So stand, speak, shut up, sit down.
2) Have your notes handy and do like the Boy Scouts and 'Be Prepared" or "Be Ready!"
3) Know when it's your turn. Find out who you follow in speech making.
4) Familiarize yourself with your environment beforehand. If you can't arrive the day before, get there early the day of the event. Learn where you'll stand to give your speech. Practice it and have some people stand in the back of the room to see if they can hear and understand you, even if it's the catering workers or decorators.
5) Find a point of focus in case you need to stare at it to relax. Carry along your lucky penny, rabbit's foot or other memorabilia if you need to and along with relaxing tips on a note card like take deep breaths.
Wow, can you believe there are still even more things that you'll want to take into account with Wedding Speeches? There are!

Wedding Speeches | Work the Audience
Work the AudienceUse these tips to help you - and everyone else - at the wedding:
a) Write down the names of people you are going to be mentioning in your speech. Then practice saying them correctly, seeking help as needed before the big day comes.
b) Find out names of parents, step parents or other significant other people that you may want to mention in your speech. Learn the correct pronunciations and find out who they are so you can look at them and speak directly to them briefly during your speech.
c) If you are uncomfortable, try working something out ahead of time where you can interact with a member of the wedding listening audience for support and encouragement. Maybe you can stage a positive planned interaction where that other person offers congratulations, too, or a kind remark, etc. to get or keep you on track, or even a secret hand signal like two thumbs up. This will help you not feel so alone up there - -and you aren't, you know! An elderly jolly gent with plenty of speaking experience might be more than happy to help out.
And yes, there are still even more things that you'll want to take into account with Wedding Speeches!

Wedding on Wikipedia
A wedding is a ceremony that celebrates the beginning of a marriage or civil union. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. In some countries, cultures and religions, the actual act of marriage begins during the wedding ceremony. In others, the legal act of marriage occurs at the time of signing a marriage license or other legal document, and the wedding is then an opportunity to perform a traditional ceremony and celebrate with friends and family. A woman being married is called a bride, a man called a groom, and after the ceremony they become a wife or a husband, respectively.
Nuptial is the adjective of "wedding". It is used for example in zoology to denote plumage, coloration, behavior, etc. related to or occurring in the mating season.
Wedding Speech | In a Pinch: More Quotes and One-liners
In a Pinch: Quotes and One-linersIf, on the off chance that all your cue cards for your speech were drowned in the fountain of champagne by the bride's mischievous seven year old nephew, and you actually succeed in remembering something other than the fact that you want to go after the little rascal with a vengeance, you might find these lines coming in handy. That is of course if you manage to remember them.
Otherwise, if you still manage to retain your notes and keep them away from champagne fountains and seven year olds, these quotes and one liners do come in handy to sprinkle your speech with.
I have one word of warning for you though. Be careful how you use them. Yes, these quotes and one liners are good all by itself but insert them into the wrong place and you will find that your speech just fell flat.
Memorable Jokes, Quotes and One-liners
Most of these quotes, jokes and other little bits and pieces which I have given below have done the rounds and then some, but some things never seem to lose their charm no matter how long they've been around.
And if told properly these little gems of the wedding speech world can come out sounding like brand new, every time, and what's more you will find that your speech is better for it.
I'll start you off with the same quote with which I started the "Introduction" section, and then move on from there.
If you will forgive the pun, for better or for worse, here they are -
The brain is a wonderful thing. It never stops functioning from the time you're born until the moment you stand up to make a speech.
Herbert V Prochnow and Herbert V Prochnow Jnr
Don't marry for money; you can borrow it cheaper.
