Writing Tips to begin Your Speech

1) Choose a type of speech and determine length. Keep it short and sweet, as a rule, but not too short.

2) Determine the tone: romantic, humorous, sentimental, other.

3) Take a time out alone to gather your thoughts. Then with a pencil and paper, jot down main ideas that you could mention regarding #2 above, calling to mind special moments form the past where you've known the people you will be talking about and referencing in your speech.
