Weight Watchers is The Best

Ranked #21,548 in Food & Cooking, #418,027 overall

Why I First Joined Weight Watchers

My experience with Weight Watchers started when I was 23. I've always been what one physician I know calls portly. My body structure has also been called rotund, hippy with thunder thighs and obese. One word in my defense, I am tall and big boned .. I've used that a lot but the bottom line is I'm overweight. My defining moment came when my sister told me of her football-playing-boyfriend saying I would make a good linebacker.

My mother and I started attending Weight Watchers meetings together when my children were small. We both lost a substantial amount of weight on the Weight Watchers Program. But not only did I lose weight, I felt better than I had in a long time and I was proud of the way I looked. Unfortunately, after 6 months or so out of the program, I began to gain back the weight I had lost. The Weight Watchers Program now has a follow-up program. After a person reaches their ideal weight, there is a subsequent program from Weight Watchers called Maintenance. This program helps weight losers keep from regaining the weight they lost.

Forty years has passed since I first started attending Weight Watchers, and in the interim I've tried other diets. Let's see, there was the Rice Diet, the Peanut Butter Diet and even the Watermelon diet. I didn't lose any weight on these.

I did do the Atkins diet for a while and did lose weight but it was not a healthy diet for me. I really love to eat and I could have all the bacon and eggs I wanted in the morning. It was a satisfying diet but not at all good for my body.

Another diet was one where I would drink a diet product milkshake for two meals then eat one normal meal. Along with the milkshakes I would take a handful of pills that were said to aid my body in losing the weight. I did lose weight on this for awhile but the product was expensive and, again, it was not a healthy diet.

Baring my soul, I did have a go at the weightloss pills too. I got a lot of housework done, partly because I couldn't sleep and I had to be doing something, but I lost no weight. As soon as I came down off my high from the pills I ate twice as much as before.

Unfortunately, after 40 years of fad dieting, I am now required to take a pill in the morning, similar to an antacid, or I get a bad stomachache. My eating habits through the years have undoubtedly contributed to the stomach problems I have today.

There are a lot of Weight Watchers spin-off groups that have come and gone but Weight Watchers has remained and continued to improve it's weight loss program that is combined with healthy eating. Image available at www.allposters.com 2904202

I think I could write a book about dieting because I have tried them all. I am a Weight Watcher Life Timer from a long time ago and have been back numerous times. It works but for some reason I just have not made it a lifestyle. Very good lens.
