Weight Loss After Pregnancy

5 Tips To Get You Back In Shape!

You've just had your beautiful baby! Everything is looking great - except you. As thrilled as you are about your new baby, you hate the way you look. Don't worry; weight loss after pregnancy can be a little tricky but with these five tips, you'll get back in shape in no time.

Breast feed - While you were pregnant, your body was storing up extra fat so you would be able to make milk to feed your baby. If you eat moderately and breastfeed your baby, you will see the baby fat melt right off your body. Just be careful - eat in moderation but do not starve yourself.

Exercise - You now have the greatest reason in the world to exercise - a baby that needs to go for a walk! Wait six weeks after vaginal birth and eight weeks after a c-section and then put your baby into the stroller and take off. Your baby will love it and you will tone up and lose the baby fat.

Eat healthy - Now that you are breastfeeding and taking care of your new baby, you need to pay special attention to what you are eating. There are no magic formulas to eating right - just think moderation. Balance out your carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. If you aim for 40% proteins, 35% carbohydrates, and 25% fats, you will be eating a well-rounded diet that will be good for you, good for your baby, and good for that weight loss after pregnancy.

Sleep - Yes, you need to be active to lose weight, but remember, your body is working overtime making milk and as a result, burning extra calories. If you add in the extra work that you are doing taking care of the new baby, and adding the walk into your routine each day, you are burning quite a few extra calories. Due to these things, you need to be sure that you give your body sufficient time to recover and your body recovers by resting. Get ample rest so you can do a good job taking care of your baby.

Don't listen to negative comments - After you have your baby, you will get more advice and comments than you ever thought possible. One of the comments that you will hear quite frequently is, "You'll never lose your weight" or "Your body will never be the same." These comments are not true. It is very possible to not only lose your weight after pregnancy, but to look better than you did when you got pregnant.

Weight loss after pregnancy can be tricky, but it is not impossible. By following these simple tips, you can be back in shape in no time.

Losing the Weight After the Baby

3 Easy Tips

Even though you may have gained excess weight during your pregnancy, losing weight after the baby is not impossible. But, as we all know, it takes more than just wanting to lose weight. Because we are all different, one weight-loss plan is not going to work for everybody. But by following these three easy tips you can get back your pre-pregnancy shape.

Tip #1 - Eat sensibly while nursing

If you are nursing your baby - great! Breastfeeding is the absolute best for your baby. The problem most women have when nursing is that they are incredibly hungry and because you are feeding your baby, you think you have free reign as to how much you eat.

Sorry! Nursing your baby can melt the pounds right off of you but only if you are not consuming more calories than you need. Even while nursing, to lose weight, you need to use up more calories than you consume.

For best results, figure out how many calories your body needs to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight and then add 500 calories. The 500 calories will be sufficient for your body to produce enough milk for your baby and the pounds will literally melt away. The best and safest way for you to determine how many calories you need is to ask your doctor.

3 Easy Tips - Continued

Tip #2 - Exercise

Another important element to losing weight after the baby is to exercise. It's great to lose the pounds, but you also need to incorporate exercise into your lifestyle to really look and feel great.

Exercise will help you tone up so you have a nice firm and fit look. Exercise will keep you from having the soft, squishy, "I've had a baby look." If you cut back your calories to lose weight without adding in exercise, you will lose muscle mass. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be. The higher your metabolism is, the more calories your body burns up even when you are resting.

Exercise will give you extra energy that you are going to need to care for your baby. Soon your baby will become very active and you will want to be able to do fun things without be tired and worn out all the time.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that now that you have a baby, you don't have time to exercise. You now have the best reason in the world to exercise - your baby! Put the baby in a stroller and take long walks. If you start walking when your baby is young, they learn to enjoy the stroller and are happy to sit in the stroller no matter how far you walk. This is a win-win situation. The baby is entertained and you are losing weight and toning up at the same time.

Tip #3

Find a friend to lose weight with. Having someone who is in the same situation as you can be a real boost and will help you through discouraging times. Contact other new moms that you may have met in your childbirth classes or join a local weight loss group. By doing this, you won't feel like your having to go it alone.

Remember, losing weight after the baby is not impossible. Follow these simple tips and you will be back into your pre-pregnancy shape in no time.
