Weight Loss Success

If you've ever tried to lose weight by cutting out or even just cutting down on eating your favorite foods you'll know it's pretty slow going. And that's if if works for you at all.

But there is an alternative that many people find much easier. That's losing weight by including exercise in your weight loss plan.

Instead of just reducing your intake of calories to lose body fat you can also burn those calories off by increasing the amount of exercise you do. Of course combining the two methods is by far the best route to fast weight loss.

In this lens we'll look at just how you can get started with weight loss exercise programs so let's read on.

Getting Started

There are many different ways to exercise if you're planning on losing weight. You can take a basic chair for instance. Although we all sit on these everyday, chairs are also great pieces of workout equipment. With a sturdy chair you can perform exercises such as dips, incline pushups, step ups and chair squats. Walking is another form of keeping fit which all fitness trainers advise you to do. And it fits in with nearly every exercise and fitness routine plus it's easy to do. In fact, almost every one of us walks every single day. It is without doubt one of the most effective forms of keeping fit a person can do.

It really need not be expensive using exercise in your weight loss plan. A really good low cost piece of equipment for toning up is the mini trampoline. This device is easy to store away and is great for working your whole body. You can have great fun with it whilst burning those calories - and all for around £25. Another very good way to tone up and lose some calories is by using a well known device called a hoola hoop. This low cost hoop is often overlooked by many people. Just start off by trying to do it for a few minutes at a time. Build up to at least ten minutes total in any one day. You can space it out into 2 minute sessions with a thirty second rest in between.

The most important thing to remember is that you're trying to burn off fat to lose those excess pounds. It's possible for you to mix diet with resistance (toning) and aerobic exercise methods for effective fat loss. Fat burning during exercise only starts once the body has reached a certain temperature. This generally takes around 15 to 20 minutes to happen. So plan your routine. Start with resistance exercises, followed by aerobic exercise such as jogging; by doing this, if you are running for 30 minutes you will also be burning fat for 30 minutes.

In the initial stages the amount of weight you lose may be little because you will be building up muscle. Don't be disheartened and give up - the physical changes in your bodies appearance will show you that it's working. This can take a while so having patience will do you the world of good. You can easily lose a few pounds in just a couple of weeks with a little bit of cardio vascular exercise each day. The key here is to get your muscles working, but be careful not to overdo it. Start off with about 30 minutes of fast paced cardio each day. You can literally do anything from using a cross trainer, jogging, sprinting, swimming or squat thrusts.

Important!

Always consult a health professional before commencing on any weight loss or exercise program.

A Simple Exercise Program Anyone Can Do

"This is versatile enough both for beginners and advanced walkers and for short or long workouts. Like Leslie's earlier 5-mile workout, each individual mile can be done separately, or they can be done in combinations of 2, 3, 4, or 5 miles. And unlike the earlier 5-mile workout, this one has separate warm up and cool down segments. If you do 1 mile a day (each one is 12-14 minutes) plus the 5-minute warm up and 9-minute cool down and stretch segment, you have 5 different workouts of less than 30 minutes each, one for each day of the week."

"This is a very welcome addition to my workout library. It would also be a good place to start if you've never tried one of Leslie's workouts before. "

"I've lost 36 pounds with Leslie's dvds and jump at the chance to try anything new that she does. "

A Thinking Person's Step by Step Guide to Weight Loss & Exercise Program

This book presents a groundbreaking approach to keeping up with weight loss and exercise plans. The method described - and shown to work based on empirical results - is radically different from traditional methods that single-mindedly emphasize personal motivation. Instead of promoting the establishment of overly ambitious goals, the selection of diet or workout "buddies," and the pairing of idealized outcomes with guilt trips as an ultimately destructive carrot - stick combination, the book sets out effectively to demolish these common and frequently toxic approaches. In a calmly reasoned, analytical way, the authors identify decisive elements in each person's environment and show how seemingly small changes in our surroundings and habits lead to lasting results.

Among the many innovative angles presented in the book are recordkeeping tools that bring out patterns hidden in our lifestyles and help us distinguish between real improvement and insignificant blips. After walking the reader through the steps of their unique strategy, the authors offer a full case study that brings the facts and figures to life. The book closes with a discussion on the pitfalls of the self-improvement movement when taken to unhealthy extremes and reiterates the sensible approach that defines its entire content.

Elliptical Trainers

Elliptical trainers are relatively new additions to cardiovascular fitness equipment that offer a non-impact cardiovascular workout that can vary from light to high intensity based on the resistance preference set by the user. Although elliptical cross trainers are considered to be minimal-impact, they are an example of a weight-bearing form of exercise.

There are claims that the dual action exercise of these trainers can actually be more efficient in burning calories than using a treadmill. The logic is that by exercising more muscle groups simultaneously, a more intense workout can be achieved in less time. It is also suggested that the perceived rate of exertion is lower. However, other studies have shown that the rate in which calories are burned on an elliptical trainer is similar to that on a treadmill.

One of the best machines at an affordable price is the Verso CT 307 from Kettler. It is equipped with such features as a 30-pound drive system that's extremely smooth whether exercising in forward and reverse; ball bearings at each pivot point for added steadiness; and contact hand pulse sensors for measuring your heart rate.

Here's what one satisfied customer said about it:

"This elliptical trainer is designed and built in Germany and is rock solid. Even purchasing probably the lowest end product, it is quality built. The monitor was confusing and the directions are not the best, but it is not so complicated that we can't figure it out. The noise level is non-existent. The footprint makes it possible to put in any room. The warranty was one of the best I found. I will reccommend this company and their products to everyone."
