About Matt
Matt Seaman lives on the Gold Coast, and has forged a path to the top of the IT industry. A talented computer programmer and innovator, Matt has worked with some of Australia 's leading entrepreneurs.
Growing up in a small town outside Newcastle in New South Wales, Matt was the youngest accepted applicant to the scholarship programme at Newcastle Grammar School in 1990. Matt's family moved to the Gold Coast in 1991, where he was accepted admission to Trinity College at age 12.
Graduating Year 12 at 16, Matt went on to study at Griffith University from 1996 to 2000, gaining a Bachelor of Multimedia at just 20 years old.
After a rugby accident in 1994 put him in hospital for nearly a year, he recovered from severe injuries and reconstructive surgery on his hip, back, and knee. During this time, he put on weight, which was a continuing trend until 2004, when health problems related to his obesity threatened his wellbeing.
Matt was self employed in his own IT consultancy for over 10 years until being faced with a choice: do something about his health and weight, or lose the battle.
This is the story of how he turned his life around.

My Starting Weight, and My Health
From the start...
Starting at 165kg or 363 lbs in March 2006, Matt lost 23kg (50 lbs) in 7 months, between March 2006 and September 2006. on target to reach his goal weight of 130kg (286 lbs) by Christmas 2006.
In fact, Matt not only achieved his goal of 130kg, but went beyond that and weighed in at 123kg (that's 270 lbs) on Christmas Day, a total weight loss of 42kg in 9 months! That's 92 lbs in 9 months!
Since then, his success continues, and has now lost 61kg. That's 134 lbs!
My Health
In short, at my heaviest in 2004, I reached 165kg, which is 343 lbs.
After several incidents during which I was hospitalised in 2005, I made the decision, yet again, to do something positive toward improving my health, and managed to get down to 147kg (323 lbs) between May 2004 and November 2005.
But between December 2005 and March 2006, I managed to put all that weight back on.... It was so depressing.
As had happened so many times before, I my weight loss began to plateau. But this time I was determined to find the solution.

My Story: Part 1
The Beginning
As a high school student in 1994, I had been on the school cricket, soccer, and rugby teams. Our teams played at championship level in a number of sports syndicates.
During a rugby game in October 1994, the semi-finals, it began to rain, and the game continued. The field turned to mud.
I was tackled, and while still in motion, the other player slipped in the mud, causing us both to lose our balance and fall to the ground.
I fell on my side, and the other player landed on top of me.
The combined force of the two impacts - me hitting the ground, and the other player landing on top of me, I sustained multiple injuries.
These included:
- badly damaged knee
- hip fractured in 3 places
- hip broken in one place
I was in a lot of pain and unable to move, half covered in mud.
After realising I was badly injured, the sports masters arranged for medical attention and while waiting for an ambulance, decided to move me off the field.
Four men lifted me, one on each limb, at which point I heard and felt a lot of crunching inside. I was put back down on the ground until the ambulance arrived.
My next memory is waking in hospital, being told by a nurse that I would need to be in hospital for several months.
What came next was so shocking I could hardly believe it.
Next, the nurse detailed a series of treatments that basically meant I would be in hospital for a long time - almost 12 months in fact. This included repairing my broken bones, spinal realignment surgery, rehabilitation, as well as regaining balance and learning to walk again.
When I was lifted off the ground, the extent of the breakages were amplified, becoming twisted and separating.
The major damage was to my hip and lower back. Growth plates on my hips were torn and separated, and my hip had been rotated in its fractured and broken state.
Several surgeries later, after being bolted, realigned, cast, and recast, I entered a rehabilitation and physical therapy routine to begin walking again.
During this few months, I had begun to put on weight, and this continued after being discharged from hospital. I was on crutches for another 5 months, and had limited mobility. It was during this time that my weight increased over 100kg ( 230 lbs ), and became an impediment to proper recovery.
I realise that I allowed myself to fall into this pattern of eating behaviour, and that this was my own doing.
I was told by medical professionals that my weight was affecting my recovery from injury and surgery, and that I would need to lose weight. This was no easy task when still being pinned and having limited range of movement.
I tried many programs, and my weight fluctuated up and down for some time.
After two years of trying a range of different diet and exercise options, I convinced myself my situation was never going to change....
This was a mistake. This self-fulfilling prophecy kept me overweight between 1996 and 2006.

Here's What Changed My Mind
And Forced Me to Lose Weight
A few weeks later, in February 2005, I was alone in our work area at the office and passed out again. No-one is sure how long I was out. The only recallection I have is being woken up by a paramedic.
These two incidents made me realise that I could be anywhere - home, work, outdoors - and possibly collapse or become unconscious - even in a situation where there was no-one close by to call for help.
I made the decision to change my health.
I again started on the trail of diet and excercise, with mixed results. Sometimes my weight would go down, but soon back up again.
Then, I was introduced to a program that worked for me.

Look at these pictures. You can see that this is not a healthy weight of anyone to carry.
After 10 years of carrying excess weight, and about 5 years being at my largest, I had to find something.
My quest was renewed after the two blackouts I experienced in January and February 2005. It took a year of trying various diet and excercise combinations, and haivng limited results, It always seemed to creep back on.
Then I found a solution:
In February 2006, I was given some information on a new weight management program from an American company called Agel.
After going to a few presentations, and seeing the differences between the Agel FIT system and the other programs I had been trying over the last year, I decided to put my money where my mouth was - pardon the pun - and try this new method.
The results were very very surprising.

Between March 2006 and September 2006, I lost an incredible 23kg or 50 lbs.
Now, I can hear you doing the math.
In March 2006, my starting weight was 165kg or 363 lbs.
I lost 23kg or 50 lbs between March and September.
As at September 2006, I was still a huge 142kg or 312 lbs. That's still a lot of bulk. But it's a lot better than it was. I'm sure you'll agree.
But the real exciting part is, that it has not come back. And I am continuing to lose weight!
Between September 2006 and December 2006, I lost another 19kg or 42 lbs...
That's a total of 42kg or 92 lbs in just 9 months! Between March 2006 and December 2006.
And... it has not come back!

From my starting date of March 2006 to December 2006, I lost a total of 42kg.
That's 92 lbs in just 9 months!

I went from 165kg to 123kg, losing a total of 42kg in 9 months.
That's from 363 lbs to 271 lbs, losing a total of 92 lbs in 9 months!
My Total Weight Loss for 2007:
Between January 2007 and March 2007, I lost an extra 19kg om 3 months, which is 41 lbs.

So in 3 months, I went from 123kg to 104kg, losing 19kg in 3 months.
Which is from 271 lbs to 230 lbs, losing 41 lbs in 3 months.
My Total Combined Weight Loss:

Between March 2006 and March 2007, I went from 165kg to 104kg, losing 61kg in 12 months.
That's from 363 lbs to 230 lbs, losing 134 lbs in 12 months.

How I Did It... With Agel FIT!
Yes, I know you want to know how I did it. Here's what worked for me*.
THE START:
Two Agel FIT packets a day
10 am and 6pm (one hour before meals)
Continue for 3 weeks
THE MIDDLE:

ONGOING TOWARD MY GOAL:

What Changed:
THE START:
- Noticing some small changes over the first 3 weeks, generally being less hungry and reduction in between-meal cravings.
- By the second week, my afternoon snack had disappeared - I just wasn't hungry in the middle of the afternoon.
- Lost about 3kg in the first 3 weeks (that's 6.6 lbs)
THE MIDDLE:
- Feeling more awake, noticing I was sleeping better, not waking in the night, and generally less hungry at normal meal times and between meals.
- By the fifth week, I was no longer hungry mid-morning.
- By the sixth week, my morning and afternoon snack breaks had disappeared
- Started to notice a change in what I wanted to eat.... those chips didn't taste the same.
ONGOING TOWARD MY GOAL:
- By week 8, I was feeling a lot more lively and energetic. It felt easier to get around, to walk, to climb stairs, and I felt like I wanted to get up and move around.
- By week 9, I had hit my first milestone - 10kg
By week 12, I was really excited - regaining a lot of mobility and ease of movement. - By week 15, everybody was noticing the change.
At 20 September, I had finally hit my next milestone at 30kg lost since March 1. - At 30 September, my weight was 132kg or 290 lbs
- At 30 December, my weight was 123kg or 271 lbs.
MY GOAL FOR 2006:
My goal for 2006 was to get down to 130kg by Christmas 2006. That's 286 lbs.
I actually achieved a weight of 123kg by Christmas 2006. That's 271 lbs!!
MY GOAL FOR 2007:
Between January and March 2007, I lost another 19kg or 41 lbs, bringing my weight down to 104kg or 230 lbs!
