The Top TEN Dog Traits
(or what they can do that we can't or don't)
I think that our dogs are exceptional, both in their intelligence, and their manipulatin skills. Somehow, without using any words, they manage to get us to do things for them, buy them things, and make them comfortable. When I think about this, I realize that dogs have traits that humans just don't have. This is my Top TEN list. Please reorder, vote, add to.......
Alert humans to the presence of intruders or would-be intruders by endless barking, whining, and yapping

- Celebrities and their Dachshunds are often missed on web sites and in books alike.
Here are some of the most recognizable celebs and other well known people from around the world and the name of their dogs. Although I have not got them all............. - Mildred Bailey
- ......Mildred owns two busy farms, one in eastern Washington on the Indian reservation where she was born (she is part Indian), another not very far from Tom Dewey's, in upstate New York. She lives comfortably in a Manhattan duplex apartment with three dachshunds and a parrot, drives her Chrysler station wagon to work when she feels like it. In one corner of her living room, she has a stack of her own records that would turn collectors green (many of Mildred's have long been unavailable, but are still eagerly sought after).
- Hedda Hopper
- .....Hedda lives in a small, eight-room house with a pair of dachshunds, spends much of her income on clothes. At least a dozen Hollywood columnists have bigger circulations than Hedda, but none of them makes so much of a splash as she does.........

Commentary from my dachshunds
My Day,Part1, By Bella.0500: I wake up when my dad gets up, but he makes me stay in the bed with mom, who is still sleeping. I would rather get up with dad, and watch IMUS on the TV, but I can't open the door by myself. Sometimes I'm really fast and I get out of the bed and through the door before him, then he lets me come downstairs with him. I think that he doesn't want to have to take me out for a pee, so he makes me stay in bed. But, I really like IMUS - he's pretty funny.
0600: mom's alarm goes off, and she usually hits it, at least once. That means that I don't get out of the bedroom for another 10 minutes. Usually, I pace around the bedroom, moaning and whimpering, so that I annoy mom, and she just decides to get up. If the sound effects don't work, I sometimes throw myself at the door - that makes a nice thud and makes mom get up - usually. But, then she is not very happy with me.
0611: If mom is up by now, I go and wake up Ben, who is sleeping on his dog bed, covered up with a quilt. He's a good sleeper, and I usually have to jump all over the lump on the bed in order to wake him up. I know that he hides bones under the quilt, so I look around for those once he's up. I like to give him a little lick, and then a growl, just to start his day in the right direction, and to remind him that I'm the boss, even though he is bigger.
Mom gets the new guy out of his crate, and I ignore him. But, when the crate door is open, I get to look around in there, for spare bones and stuff. The new guy is really wiggly in the morning; he has way too much energy. Dude, slow down! Relax! It irritates me the way he bounces up and down, and runs around in little circles. He is really stupid.
0613 - 0625: Mom takes all of us dachshunds on a walk around the neighborhood. It is my job to bark really loud, so all of the neighbors know that it is morning, and time to get up. I also feel responsible for barking and growling at the paper boy, and the guy who drives the food van. The paper boy is afraid of me, but the PeaPod man laughs. He's stupid, too.
I'm kind of tired now. More later
