The Secret Of Wellington's Map by Mollie Kehl Penrod

This is a great book to introduce 8 to 12 year old boys and girls to Sci-Fi / Adventure.

I felt that story line was good and the plot easy to follow. Mollie's writing style was very informal making it appealing to younger readers.

Mollie Kehl Penrod uses humour throughout the story to keep the reader engaged and lighten the plot.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I'm looking forward to her next one.

This book was the adventures of Jaime and Nicole, two girls who are just starting their Summer holiday.

Jaime finds a trunk containing a map that belonged to Hume Wellington. Being a history fanatic, Jaime investigates the map only to find out - it is more than a map.... just what it is, you'll have to read the book to find out.

Jaime and Nicole are catapulted into a life changing adventure. Journey with the girls as their adventure takes them to 1885, the Gare homeworld, a space station and other fantastical places.

How do Dinosaurs come to be in 25th Century earth? Just what is a Port Stabilizer? These questions are answered in The Secret Of Wellington's Map....

The end of this story leaves Jaime and Nicole on the threshold of another adventure.

Well done Mollie Kehl Penrod...

Love it! Great read.

Jenny says:

I thoroughly enjoyed it! Who doesn't love reading about taking a trip back in time, making friends with non-humans, and fighting for your life. The Secret of Wellington's Map might even make a sci-fi fan out of me! I'm ready for Book #2!

Joan4 says:

I am not a big fan of SciFi, but if the 8-12 year olds will enjoy it, I'd definitely have it on my shelf. Most any good book read and enjoyed by a child is a plus! I can certainly see how this would be appealing and fun!

Charlyjl says:

Excellent read! Definitely 1 for the 8 to 12 years old but one I would have in my library.

Sorry, not my cup of tea.

This book is excellent. I started reading Sci-Fi because my Mum and Dad already did and we have a lot of books. However, the books were a bit too much for me to start with.

If I had started with The Secret Of Wellington's Map, I would have been reading Sci-Fi way earlier!

This book has it all - Science Fiction, Aliens and Time Travel. A great read.
