Do you find the life of a gangster enticing?

Yes. It seems so glamourous.

davespeed says:

I once read a comment about gangsters from Ayn Rand (of all people!). She said that there is something about the "sense of life" about gangsters that we like. Not the criminal aspect, but the fact that they rejected having to live life on life's terms...THEY set the terms on which life would be lived.

dab0neman says:

Right up until you're strung out on coke, looking for the helicopter that's about to take you down, cooking a meal for your paralyzed brother, dealing with a psycho babysitter that won't go to the airport without her lucky hat and getting a gun shoved in your face by a bunch of FBI guys, yeah, it's enticing!

says:

Since I've been able to read, I've liked the mafia. So Oh yea, it's very enticing, even the not so glamourized hollywood version.

No. Crime doesn't pay.

Margo_Arrowsmith says:

No, but I love the movies, because they get theirs

According to Maxim magazine, Joe Pesci wrote and directed the "You think I'm funny?" scene at Martin Scorsese's request.

The ending shot of Joe Pesci shooting at the camera is a visual reference to The Great Train Robbery (1903), whose ending shot is of the villain, Justus D. Barnes, shooting at the camera.

Based on the book "Wiseguy" by Nicholas Pileggi. The movie was renamed to avoid confusion with the TV series "Wiseguy" (1987).

Mike Starr, who plays "Frenchy" in the film, plays the same role in The 10 Million Dollar Getaway (1991) (TV), a Jimmy Burke/Conway telling of the Lufthansa heist portion of "Goodfellas".

Goodfellas IS the best.

termit_bronx says:

I looked at it very often. I love this movie!

dab0neman says:

I try to watch it every month so I don't forget the lines. I also try to stop it just before the great downfall of everyone. Too tough to watch all the great characters get wasted and weird.

Tgnr says:

Great movie. Three great actors as well. I love it.

says:

Pretty much.

AmazedCreations says:

I would tend to agree

Wrong! It's the worst!

davespeed says:

As much as I love Goodfellas, I've got to give the nod to The Godfather. But let me say, Goodfellas isn't just one of the best gangster movies ever, it's one of the best movies of any genre ever!

Onemanmob says:

Enticing, but not the best.

Margo_Arrowsmith says:

I liked it, but it is hardly the best ever. Good though.
