Legends of the Fall

Legends of the Fall (1994) is the best movie for drama, action and romance. The film stars talented actors: Anthony Hopkins (as Colonel Ludlow), Brad Pitt (as wild child Tristan Ludlow), Aidan Quinn (as straight-laced Alfred Ludlow), Henry Thomas (as idealistic Samuel Ludlow), Julia Ormond (as the brothers' love-interest Susannah Fincannon), Karina Lombard (as Isabella Two, Tristan's wife), and Gordon Tootoosis (as Native American ranch-help and narrator, One Stab). My husband and I own the movie and often watch it. It pulls at your heartstrings. Brad Pitt, often criticized in other roles, was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture. He does an incredible job in this film.

Parents: This movie is not for children. It has an R-rating for violence, swearing, some nudity, sexual scenes, and drinking/smoking.

Legends of the Fall is a beautiful epic story of an early 20th century family living on a Montana ranch. The Ludlows move out to the ranch until war, and then a woman, separate them. The sons - played by Brad Pitt, Anthony Quinn, and Henry Thomas - search for their life's work and passion. This movie crosses the genres of drama, romance, action, and western in this family's coming-of-age tales and struggles. I can't tell you my favorite scenes because I don't want to spoil it for you; I want you to see this film! You will laugh, cry, rejoice, cry more and hope for love. If you usually write off Brad Pitt as merely a pretty face, then you must see this movie. He can't help look hot with his long hair and rock hard bod, but he proves himself a great actor in this movie. His heart is in this role - it's one of his best movies! Exceptional work by all the actors. The film won an Oscar for best cinematography.
