What, you've never heard of Wendy the Good Little Witch?
I was introduced to her in comic books that my grandfather used to keep at his house for when the grandkids came over. Every time I read all of the various comics from cover to cover. One of them was Wendy the Good Little Witch. I had no idea she was a character created back in the 1950's! I hope you'll be able to learn more about this great Halloween character from my lens.
I really like witches, I have a witch hat that I have as part of my Halloween themed doll and bear sweater collection. Wendy's hat would be red, of course.
Also, I didn't realize that Hilary Duff played her in the movie!

I enjoyed the comics I had read growing up, but had no idea about the background of the character.
Wendy the Good Little Witch is a fictional character from Harvey Comics. Wendy was introduced as a back-up feature as well as a companion for Casper in Casper the Friendly Ghost #20, May 1954. Soon, she was trialed in Harvey Hits, starting with #7. After a total of six appearances, she received her own title, Wendy the Good Little Witch, in 1960. Other ancilary titles featuring the pleasant young witch include Wendy Witch World (October 1961 - September 1974), and Casper and Wendy (September 1972 to November 1973). Another Wendy the Good Little Witch comic ran from April 1991 to August 1994, and a three issue Wendy And The New Kids On The Block that saw print in 1991.
In addition to Casper, the Wendy comics frequently feature Wendy's "aunties" Thelma, Velma and Zelma, with whom she shares a cottage in a haunted forest. A popular plotline has the aunts becoming frustrated over Wendy's determination to use her magic powers to do good only.
Like many of Harvey's stable, Wendy is a design variation on the prototype of Casper. So are Richie Rich, Gloria Glad, Little Dot and others.
She has appeared in various other media including television and film.
