Wenzel Mackinac Family Dome Tent

The Mackinac is an unusually large roomy tent with full height head room throughout.

It is not a 2 minute job to set up and requires 2 adults but it's not particularly difficult and the effort is worthwhile if you're after the features it offers.

The attached screen room is an absoute boon if you spend a good bit of time on site. You can zip out the bugs whilst enjoying fantastic and full air flow but when things cool down you zip yourself in and it soon warms up.

The rain fly is also removable so you can have full light and air flow but it's very easy and quick to put on if the weather turns.

Spacious isn't the word - the back room can easily take 2 full sized airbeds leaving the screen room as a general play / read / cook / activity room.

If you want seperate sleeping rooms then you can use the screen room as a bedroom by zipping up the walls but it means packing your gear away to sleep.

Again the floor is welded - not sewn - so you know water's not coming in at the corners.

Base size overall is 15' x 10' and you get a whopping 130 sq.ft of usable floor area.

Central height 7'8" - tall enough to stand throughout. No more campers backache!

Sleeps 6 or 7 people.

Only 1 door! Yep, afraid so.

Polyester mesh everywhere that polyester mesh goes.

Welded floor, fibreglass frame with certain metal poles for added atability

Pegs - you guessed it, they're plastic.

Weight when packed - 22lbs.

Standing room - it's just great not to be bent over half the time

Screen room - imagine...hot, rainy, kids, bugs - what you gonna do? The screen room makes it not just bearable but fun again!

It's green instead of the usual blues and reds.

Only one door -not even a cargo door at the back. So everything and everyone has to go in and out through the one door.

Quite heavy and takes 2 adults to put it up.

Also the usual gripes:

Plastic pegs - get yourself some metal ones for harder ground.

Need to seal the seams against heavy rain before you go.

Screen room was great when we were stuck in poor weather

Plenty of ariflow but warmed up really quickly when we zipped up

Could do with a second door at the back

We sleep in the back and use the screen room during the day.

2 Queen sized airbeds fit in the back room no problem.
